A friend gave me a link to this video that I thought was pretty neat. Just gives you a sense of how natural sounding the pentatonic scale is, such that it leads people to the conclusion on its own merit.
What percentage is cultural, and what percentage is drawn from how the notes naturally go together to make it so popular I wonder? -------------------- The more I practice, the more I wish I had time to practice!

I saw that video before and it's interesting. Generally over time some intervals get into our ears. What was considered dissonant back in the days sounds fine to our ears today. It's really interesting when you think about it - how human ears evolved and got used to new sounds/music.

Amazin.. human ears have evolved by listening to popular songs n music. Which eventually defined what's the "right" sequence of notes and what arent.. It's all subjective.
for example.. If a child is raised with only access to diminished locrian sounds and tunes relevant to it, that will become the only natural sequence in his mind. Needless to quote, that kid would be crazy on a lot of levels

Wow that's cool
Seems that people are tuned in to some frequencies by default. That explains why pentatonic scale is so widely used

Wow.. until seeing this video I would never believe that a random audience would pick up on the correct intervals so quickly..
