GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Moral Dilemma!

ok, so....

this is what I paid for

http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product?sku=701053X

and this is what I got in the mail today

http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Novation-XStation-49-MIDI-Controller?sku=702651

as you can see... I'm not terribly upset at this, mainly because I was seriously considering purchasing the more expensive model. but opted for the, banged-up, cheaper alternative. But the catch is that I also paid for a two year "gold" warranty, that covers everything... on the xiosynth(the one I paid for) and no warranty information was sent with the x-station(the keyboard I received today) and plus... musiciandfriend's normal support might not work, if I need to send it back before the return deadline (45 days) since I would be returning a different product then they have on record of me buying.

I think I'm going to call them back, and tell them the deal. More because I am worried that if the thing breaks on me, I'm out of luck.

what would you guys do?

UPDATE!!! Read my post below!

I would definitely call them and explain the situation. Probably will have a good outcome in your favor.. smile.gif

Ask them for the warranty for the "upgraded product they sent you" laugh.gif

You should call them too see what they'll say....I'm really interested to see how they are going to handle shipping charges and if they are going to reward honest gesture! Tell us how it goes...

Bad luck man. Just call them and they should have a solution.

ok gents, just got off the phone with their customer service biggrin.gif

I'm very happy with how this got resolved

the short version is, this. They charge me a total of $90 and I get to keep it, warranty and all.

This being so since I ordered the "scratch n' dent" version of the cheaper keyboard, they charged me half of the difference between that and the "scratch n' dent" version of the product I got. this difference was $75, and the difference between the cost of the warranty and what I got was $30, which got cut in half, $15 added on to $75 equals $90!!!

My conscious is clear and it only cost me $90 more!

I was really thinking about keeping it ph34r.gif

Musiciansfriend's customer service gets a 9.8/10!

not a 10 because, initially they were going to have me pay the half of the difference between what I paid and the full price of the more expensive (not scratch 'n dent price) but then I handed the phone to my step-mom (she's good with words), and she got them to agree to half of the scratch n' dent price.

cheers for musicianfriend's customer service!

Congrats on making the deal! Now you got a monster keyboard to play with wink.gif

Posted by: Vasilije Vukmirovic Jul 24 2009, 02:22 PM

They will replace it, just a mistake.

Great deal you've made man, and good thing you phoned them to settle things out. It is always good specially with these kinds of devices. With no warranty it is a very unsecure deal. Great you have warranty now! smile.gif
