I think I've been most influenced by Satriani.

But also a bit by Buckethead and Guthrie Govan.

my favorite players are slash, for his tone and feeling, eric johnson, for his clean picking, great cleaner tone and general awesomeness, and more recently paul gilbert, for his speed and also keeping it musical while playing fast.

I spelled my username wrong...I didn't even think that was possible!

Look at the topic for my guitar...

Homemade strat (You still need to look at its topic!)
Squier strat (probably going to get rid of it and get another guitar instead) :)

i am trying to learn as much as i can from fusion artists like greg howe, guthrie govan and alex hutchings.
i also love muris's phrasing (especially his really cool trills as in final dance) and john petrucci kind of rythm and lead playing.

All of those players are WAY better than i am though laugh.gif . I feel that trying to learn from what they play makes me a better player.

My biggest influence is Jason Becker in every single way.

Gilbert - attitude towards music, AP, String Skipping, Feeling

Satriani - feeling, melodies, legato

Guthrie Govan - General playing (the guy is crazy every aspect of guitar playing is present and mastered on him. Its nuts)

Greg Howe - Vibrato crazyness, outside playing (very balanced)

Petrucci - I like is phrasing on the slower solos when he uses pentatonic and stuff like that (some people don't...)

Jason Becker - attitude towards music

Steve Vai - showmanship

Eric Jonhson, Andy Timmons - Tone and Control over the guitar

Gilmour - Feeling and perfect bends.

I'm in a learning phase at the moment, but the guitarists that influence - that is in the way that I want to play like them - are probably :

Dave Murray for his insane legato-based solos
Marcus Lavendell because of his extremely passionate vibrato
Eric Johnson because of his beautiful Major phrasing
Slash for his feeling and slow bends
Mark Knopfler who plays insane solos with no distortion !

... And all the other instructors at GMC, who provide excellent lessons, although I'm not practising everything at the same time ! smile.gif The instructors I've benefited from so far are :

Marcus Lavendell
Hisham Al-Sanea
Muris Varajic (awesome Guitar Idol performance ! biggrin.gif)
Gabriel Leopardi
David Wallimann
Dejan Farkas
Jose Lassaga
Marcus Siepen (Hammer-On Dude ! biggrin.gif)
Piotr Kaczor

I guess my comment is a bit deviating when you compare it to the topic tongue.gif
