Like to get your guys oppinions on this song, Last year I uploaded it and since then its had a bit of a transformation. I also would specifically like to know what you think of how the guitar tone is. I have been messing around starting from scratch with several different amp models and such on the PODX3, and this was I got that I liked.

Let me know what you think.

Oh yeah, Lyrics if your interested.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Nostalgia For Infintiy
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Here I stand on the edge of a machine
A spherical mass, dwarfing the Sun
Faced with the ultimate end of existence
My eyes stare into infintiy

I walk along the surface of light
Contemplating how it will end for me
I know there is no other choice
Its my life or everyone elses

Heart and mind are conflicted
As I force my hand into the sphere

I am soon consumed in its light
Falling inside this machine
My arms desperately try to grasp
Somethin but nothing in eternity

Here I stand inside of this machine
Vertigo obscuring all my vision
The figures before barely shadows
Try to explain this feeling to me

Mind is relaxing pain is fading
My feelings of fear have subsided
Is this the life that awaits me after death
Is this to be my continuance

Welcome to a simulated world
This is to be your existence

Body has died but life pushes on
Mind integrated in this machine
A masssive, galactic, universal brain
Infinite in its calculations

We have remained here for 900 years
Studying life that never has been seen

Isolated from the outside worlds
Contained in our digital spheres

Our bodies perished so long ago
But we live on in the form of information
We know you do not belong here

Your destiny awaits in the coldness of space
Take what we impart to you
Our infinite knowledge

Here I stand on the edge of this machine
Arms spread open and ready to leave
A short breath I take before....

...Light Speed!

replying as I listen to it.

The vocal levels seem VERY high to me. To the point of clipping and burying everything else.

The guitar tone is alright. Its got just a touch of "plastic-ness" to it that I personally dont care for but thats not right or wrong of course. Just personal preference. The lead tone sounds really good I think.

What about spreading the drums out a bit? They are all mixed very centrally.

The clean guitar tone is cool. I'd rather hear a fade into that part than the sudden stop and change. Here the lead guitar solo that comes in sounds too far back in the mix to me.

The fade back in to the next part of the tune shoud be evident a bit sooner I think. There is too much of a gap there. It sounds like the beginning to the next song.

The lead part from 4:09 to 4:40 or so is really cool. The harmony part. What about spreading the 2 guitars out a bit? Maybe 50% R and 50% L?

All in all, I dig the tune. Just had some mix critiques that may be able to help.

Alright, here is a different mix, Let me know if this is more on the right track. I spread the drums out a bit more, dropped the vocals on some parts, and fixed the lead starting at 4:09

The song is awesome man, I really like the power you captured with it! smile.gif

I have couple of minor suggestions for you to try:

1. Guitars are a bit too loud, and making problems for vocal to cut through. Try lowering down the volume of guitars, or better yet - try scooping the guitar mids. This will also create an effect that guitars are quieter. Let only one small frequency cut from guitar tracks, so they are scooped and monitor the vocal while doing this. This will allow for vocal to come out.
2. EQ the bass a bit, so it doesn't interact with other frequencies, like drum kick. The place where you raise the drum kick, in that place lower down the bass gutiar, but raise it in other place where you have free range available.
3. Try to master the recording a bit better, there were some clipping occuring. If you used compressors, try lowering down the gain and raising the knee a bit. If there is some clipping use a soft limiter to limit the sound from breaking above 0dB.
