Ok, no voting for Smith/Murray and Downing/Tipton allowed, cos we know they're in front of others wink.gif

My vote goes to mighty Mercyful Fate duo Shermann - Denner , cos they have unique sound, created meeniest, crunchiest and yet catchiest riffs , they influenced WADS of diverse power /thrash / death black metal bands

Well, the obligatory Hammett-Hetfield / Mustaine-Friedman. I am going to go with Jon Schaffer and whoever he decided to play with laugh.gif

I met them last year in Quebec City last year and Schaffer was constantly swarmed by people.. The other guys... not so much.

I would partly agree with you ... they're both fantastic but it was LaRoque/Denner duo which recorded eponymous album Abigail which raised King in premium class... smile.gif

yeah, I agree. But in regards to guitar duos, I was thinking more with just lead/solo playing. In that case the album "Them", Conspiracy, and The Eye are my favorites with both lead guitar players. Can make arguments for Sheerman and Denner as they paved the way in the beginning with Fate. Now with recent line up of LaRoque and Mike Wead is still just stellar. Gotta give it to King for always having top class guitarists in the band (at least I think so). smile.gif

I think Denner really raised his melodic skills from when he was in Fate to playing on that album. His solos on the Fate records just meandered all over the place but on Abigail he was like a new player !

I wouldn't say that they "just meandered" tongue.gif anyway denner/sherman had awesome riffs and harmony combinations...to my point La Roque's outstanding player, and the others were just inferior to him...he and King created all the Diamond's succesfull songs..To me, guitar duo should be more "balanced" in quality...

As much as I'd like to see this...

I think BG also has two votes... and deservedly so. Looks like a tie for now?
