Hey guys!! Welcome to my new Collaboration called "Jimi Frusciante"!!! biggrin.gif

As the tittle says the backing is a combination of Jimi Hendrix and John Frusciante styles so you have to open your heart on this backing and let your soul express! smile.gif The tune is in A minor and the scales that you can use are A minor aeolian and A pentatonic minor. The tempo is 100 bpm.

Hey you just send me an email tonight to join here.

So I took some time to record tonight, but maybe I can do better if I get the time.

It's the "I could have lied" solo, and then a middle part you might find that you know somehow, and then a brand new ending smile.gif
So I borrowed a lot, and there is not really any Jimi in it.

Do I upload here?

Gabriel groso! I read the messages yesterday about today's dead line, so I make a quick take because I really wanted to be in. I missed some notes and lost tempo at the end but i have no time to do it again so ...
I really don't know how to play their styles, but I played clean wich was something that i rarely do.
Tenkius!

Hey Gab, I hope I'm not too late with this take.
The backing track reminded me of my favorite Hendrix song and solo of all time. I always wanted to learn that solo so for this take I went ahead and grabbed bits and pieces of that solo. It's not too original and is more Jimi than Frusciante, but I definately enjoyed doing it. I was going to put a flanger on the ending to make it sound I played it better than I actually did tongue.gif but couldn't figure out how to automate it in the mix. ...wish I could've played that part more smoothly.

Hello Guys! This is the final mix and the feedback for your takes!! Thanks a lot for joining my Collab! You uploaded amazing takes! biggrin.gif

Final Mix:  Jimi_Frusciante_Collab_Final_Mix.mp3 ( 5.45MB ) : 227

Dreamforge:
Your take is beautiful. The tone sounds just perfect... great EQ, warm feel, and enough sustain… good job with it! Your phrasing is also really interesting. You start with few long notes in the first phrases and then in the second part you play more short notes… this creates a nice evolution of the idea. Your bends are perfect s well as your timing. I would do stronger vibratos in some parts… but it’s just a matter of taste.. it’s a very good tke. Well done!!

Fortinero:
It’s cool tat you finally could join one of my collabs man! I like the feeling of your playing. You decided to use a clean sound ans it’s a good choice for a Frusciante style collab. Your first phrases remember me a bit to Mark Knopfler by Dire Straits. There are some moments where you have little timing issues. Pay attention to it. You used some notes that aren’t part of the chords to repose… this gives the solo a special sound.. more exotic in some moments… if this was the idea, you did it great.. if not, analyse it.
Thanks for your nice take!

Guitarrero:
Hey man! First of all! Always remember to post an mp3 with the mix of solo and backing to make me easier to synchronize the take. You enter a nice take… I can note a californication feel in your melodies. Your solo is fun to listen and I think that one of the resons are the different time figures that you used for each phrase. The tone sound good. Regarding the technique I think that you could pick the notes with more strength to make it sound clear… even more in the faster part.

JamesT:
Hey man!! Hendrix is yogur friend! smile.gif You started with that lovely Jimi’s melody! It made me listen to the solo in loop many times! Hahah… you captured Jimi’s feel on your solo,,, I love your tone, the melodies, the feeling, everything is perfect for me to this backing. Congrats!

K1R:
Hi friend! I enjoyed your take. The melodies evolve in a good way and every new idea as a connection wite te previous… so I think you componed an intelligent solo… Your tone sound cool, I like the delay that you added. It makes sound your guitar bigger. Regarding your tecnique.. it’s ok, I can note some very little details to fix in your bends and timing but it’s isn’t something serious. Thanks for your take! wink.gif

Ulrik:
I must say that I fing your tones weird on this one… it’s cool that you are experimenting and that you used 3 setting in the same solos but I’m not 100% convenced of the sound… however I can’t give you more feedback without knowing what you used to record. By the way I like wat you are playing… your melodies are very fresh and everyting is played perfectly and with a very cool feel. I can note Frusciante spirit in your solo! Every note has sense at every moment. Good job friend!!

I'm working on the Rob Zombie lesson now. Very interesting tune. I'm hoping to get a feel for the backing before attempting my own take.

It's going to be a challenge switching between D minor and D phrygian. I think I can find all the notes. smile.gif
