GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Multi Angles
Posted by: Joe Kataldo Mar 25 2008, 10:00 AM
Hi guys Joe here, I'm going to shot video material for 8 new lessons, and I'd like to ask to you members, which are your preferred additional multi angle view (apart from both left and right hand together not zoomed that is standard), if you can name just your top three I'll make them standards for all my coming lessons
My idea was:
A) close left hand angled toward the headstock;
close left hand angled toward the bridge;
C) right hand focus angled toward the nek;
What do you think?
Thanks.

Check also my slow videos, I do 5 different angles

It sounds like a good plan man. But members should decide

I use to record 4 angles... sometimes more, sometimes less, depending of the lesson... BTW uper angles are really amazing

Im curious how you instructors get these camera angles- especially the "instructors eye" angle, where you look down on the guitar like what the student is seeing when they play their guitar - how do you manage to hold the camera for awquard angles like this??
i always enjoy the right hand views btw Joe thanks

WIth the tripod it is doable, but... you have to get the perfect spot and don't move the neck or body.

Wel.. I'd say talking in the video, apart form the angles. Then a top three of video angles:
1. Normal, aimed on the fretting hand (fast or first fast then slow)
2. very close on the fretting hand (played slowly)
3. Very close on the strumming hand, especially with harmonics. (slow or fast or both)

I like the three you mentioned, if I understand them right that is
But I believe that should be sufficient
Posted by: Bogdan Mar 28 2008, 01:17 AM
I think ones from the players point of view are best..But hard to do also..

After a main video where both left and right hand are showed I'd like to add three multi angle, one zoomed to right hand and two zoomed to left hand with different angle

Yes, then I understood it correctly
That sounds good in my opinion
edit: awful typo.

Well, I think that is more than enough to get what you're playing and how you're playing it
I don't need any more angles, but some people might like other angles better.. But good enough for me

Those are good angles I like it !:)

Thanks, I'm trying to create a "Template" for my lessons trying to archive consistency across topics

Hi.
I think the 3 angles you put in the pictures are just fine.
I would only make the right hand one even more angled, so that we can get details such as palm muting and pinch harmonics.
Also, i suggest not to do more than 3. When the lesson has excessive angles, I just skip them. I believe many people do the same. So it would be extra but inneficient effort.

Very VERY very Thanks, this is the kind of feedback I need ok I'll follow your suggestion about no more than three angles
Thanks

Here's my idea
Main Video The Slow one
I don't know if this view ads a lot. Maybe it's better to get this one more zoomed, so it's not just a basic view, but it also adds some teaching. You know what I mean? Now it's just an overview sight, when more zoomed it also shows how you're hands are. BTW, I realy like the double view with the little square showing the right hand!

This is the only one where you can see both hands and also I think is mandatory, up to now I've always missed this one, producing lessons well...only with additional angles

How about an angle from your right shoulder? So the camera is placed over your shoulder looking down on the guitar just like we all see our own guitars.

I'm considering it too
