GMC Forum _ Uploads _ Are You Mad Enough (need Solo Help)

Posted by: Antipolitik Jul 15 2008, 06:33 PM

Hi,

My uncle Daniel is here singing again and we made a couple of songs... this track is all done today and we recorded it
very fast ... we are recording a *hehe* music video for this track tonight so hopefully I'll have it ready later tonight...

After you hear "Let the madness begin" I would like to have a solo all the way to the last chorus.
I can't play solos yet as you know so if anyone wants to try record it we would be very happy.

Also, if you want to be in the musicvideo try to record when you solo and have a one colour wall behind...
green or white or something with contrast... that way I can chroma key the background away ... so it looks like you are in the video... anyway... the video take doesn't need to be the "real" take if you understand ... so you can go
crazy in the video.. smile.gif

Shred away... here's the track called "Are you mad enough"

Another great track Jonas smile.gif

I would love to have the chops to do a solo for ya but like you I am stuck in the rhythm guitar rut tongue.gif (Although for the time being I'm kinda comfy in that role.) I look forward to seeing the video once it's finished though and I'm sure one of the very talented guitarists here at GMC will be able to do a kick a** solo for you. Good luck with it.

I wasnt sure what you had in mind for the track. Here is an idea i had, its by no means polished, just and idea.

Ug i didnt save the wave, can you give me like an hour or so,

I need to put new strings on the guitar anyway, they are kinda crunchy. Also, do you want me to record with no verb at all? Might be easier to mix into your master, and also do you want it stereo like it is, or mono?

Thats one kickbutting song! smile.gif Excellent

And your solo Daniel worked perfectly. It had variation, slow and fast passages and had a very distinct feel to it.
An idea that came to me though, was that on the very last note that you hold a bit before vocals start again, how about holding it a bit longer and maybe get it to feedback (if you have an effect that will help you do that) or a long pickscrape. Go out with a bang smile.gif

Thats what i wanted it to do, its mainly due to the strings being dead, i couldnt get the sustain i wanted heh.

Just keep it dry, that's cool and mono or stereo is up to you smile.gif smile.gif

Thanks!

That was really COOL!!!

Damn man! Very cool song. Apparently much more catchy than I thought at first. I constantly find myself going around singing "Are you mad enough?"

Posted by: Antipolitik Jul 17 2008, 06:17 AM

Thanks all!

I will probably record the guitars again when I get my Randall. It's really difficult to get a really good
guitar sound with just a pedal into the computer and if you listen I am not that "tight" when I play smile.gif
But it does sound better and better... so I just gotta keep practice all great lessons here!

It's also fun that our "two-man-band" now got a great solo guitarist in Daniel Robinson to help us out in the near future! We really like Daniels solo... it was great! smile.gif

About the musicvideo. It was done really really fast, just a couple of hours with only a small IXUS 70.
In our next video we will be more serious, using a real chroma key wall and much more makeup smile.gif

Are you mad enough!?

Oh! I forgot to change the mp3, I will change it when I get back from work to the new mix with Daniels solo!

Later
Jonas
