Left Hand Position, Will posture in your left hand effect your speed?

Hey dudes!

I've been wondering if the curled posture of my left hand is costing me speed, if I play with it straight like a classical guitarist all the way up the neck will I be faster? I notice my curled hand position causes my pinky to stay far from the fret board when I play, I'm open to changing the posture if needed (though it will be a lot of work!) what do you guys think? Thanks!
