This is my second version off the guitar solo I'm doing with my friend HAMIN from the Republic of IRAN! Met him on soundcloud. He had evidently been following my work for several years on soundcloud so he knew who I was when I emailed him and asked if if he'd like to collab! You never know who is listening to your stuff! To wit, this is the second version f the solo. It' very "processed" and FX heavy as it's very Industrial Djenty. Please let me know what you think smile.gif It's hard to get a response typically on posts like this for some reason, as an instructor, but hope springs eternal smile.gif

It's also a good example of bending and control. If you are working on your bending, try to match the first bend I do in the solo. It's in the key of D so just move up to the 10th fret in a blues scale and bend the G see if you can match the tone. Use your entire hand. I've seen people really struggle with their vibrato of late. This can help. wink.gif

This is the final version of PARALLEL MULTIVERSE. The Collaboration with HAMIN (My buddy from the Republic of Iran!). He's from a place where Metal is something that can get you in to serious trouble. He RAWKS despite all this. He found me on soundcloud.com many years ago, come to find out, and had been following me on soundcloud, I liked one of his tracks that came up in my feed so I reached out! Next thing you know, MUSIC! They don't get youtube over there, but they do get soundcloud! Here is the final with me on lead guitar smile.gif

Please share as a statement against oppression of all kinds.

Wow, that turned out really great! That's actually one of my favorite things about GMC too, our members of from all over the world. It's so interesting to connect with others from so far away and see what happens.

Thanks!! Oh yeah! I'm a Djentleman smile.gif I did have to create a new guitar sound to go with this. I'm using overloud TH3 which is just killer!!! Hamin is taking a great risk making Metal in Iran. It's outlawed! People get thrown in Jail and Killed for doing this.

Here is just the solo section with the "Djent Solo" TH3 Patch.

I agree!! This particular guy however, is not a GMC member, he had been following me on soundcloud.com for years and then I approached him via email about a collab after hearing one of his tracks on soundcloud! Then BAM MUSIC!!!! smile.gif

The power of the interwebs is amazing smile.gif I hope to do more tunes with him!

This is a collaboration track with a band called ANTI-M based in LosAngeles. They have been making music for nearly more than two decades. They were a part of the new wave scene in L.A. This is a cover version of "VOICES CARRY" by Til Tuesday. I"m playing guitar on this one. Please let me know what you think!

My latest collaboration is with a band called ANTI-M from L.A. I played Guitar and Bass on several tracks on their latest album which is a re-imagining of songs that cover about 3 decades. This is my solo for their version of "See me in Shadow" By Delain. I finally got one of the CD's. I don't play CD's anymore but I love getting them when I've played on a record smile.gif This record took 3 years to complete. It's the longest project I've ever worked on.

Besides our jam on YouTube and the GMC collabs I don't think I've made any collaborations with anyone smile.gif

Egad!! Given how freaking good you are on the instrument, I think it's a flat out crime not to share your ability with the interwebs via collabing. smile.gif I often reach out to bands that i find on youtube or facebook who I just run across and happen to like. If I like their sound, I'll usually contact them and just ask if they want to collab on a song or if they need a guitar lead etc. Every time it's a bit different.

With Alexa, (from Germany) she was using software guitars during writing so I replaced the software guitar rythm tracks with real guitar and then put a lead on it.

With Darkness Light (Also German) I used my toy guitar controller for the 12 string accoustic bits (midi 12 string patch in Logic) and then just played my lead bit. The song was based on one of my compositions which I'd been working on for years.

With ANTI-M (Los Angeles) I started by offering a mastering pass on some of their old tracks as I liked the retro vibe. Next thing I know I'm playing bass, rythm and lead on their next album on several tracks.
With Hamin (Iran) I found him on soundcloud and he already knew my playing from soundcloud so we went from there.

It's a great way to find a good reason to play on days when one might not feel like it. Knowing I have a track that needs me often motivates me to play even on off days. Everyone has off days, having a project with roughly defined deadlines can be a good thing smile.gif

Yeah, I should probably try and find some people online that could use a guitar player. I know there's a website where people look for help with their projects, but I forgot the name of the site now.

Just found the site now: It's www.kompoz.com I was thinking of. There are probably more like that.

Bingo! Kompoz is great. Sign up and you get tons of connections to play on stuff. Great way to meet new folks to collab with without having to track them down one by one as I did. I'm going to join kompoz again. I was on a while back.

LATEST COLLAB WITH HAMIN FROM IRAN
"GENESIS" Feat. MYSELF ON LEAD

I created this thread to archive all of my various collaboration projects with people from all over the world. It's what I love about the interwebs and about GMC! I met HAMIN a few years ago after I commented on one of his tracks on Soundcloud. He evidently knew my work from sound cloud and liked my playing and BAM, collab time. We have done several and I've had a blast doing them. This is the latest one called GENESIS. I gave him a DI / CLEAN guitar track this time and he did all of the guitar tone/fx as well. So All I did was record as usual with THU and export without THU active and he did the rest.

This is the finished song.

This is the playthrough of Just the Solo Section which was requested by RIFF WARS on instagram. Riffwars is a great acccount run by a cool guy named Clifford. I'm using double tapped 5 note per string Hammering just like we do in BOOTCAMP. I use several licks from bootcamp actually which folks should recognize. I'm always trying to show how licks/drills/etc. work in a musical context, not just with a metronome. smile.gif

This is our Third Straight Collab Where I've done a Solo for his Track and I've enjoyed it every time. Here he is on bandcamp.
