Hello guys, my birthday is 2 from today, and i might get a Harmonica as a present from my parents. I really like the instrument, its perfect for blues, its small, pocket-portable (i think biggrin.gif ) and sounds great

Id like to learn how to play it jaw-dropping. I could take it to school and play on recess, etc. I really want to play this instrument awesome-ly, but i will never subtract guitar practice time for the Harmonica.

Anyways, do you guys have any tips or any websites were i could check out some lessons?

thanks

There are tons of websites that teach harmonica. Google alittle smile.gif

I kinda tried to learn to play harmonica, but I gave up becuase I'm lazy and becuse I love the guitar so much smile.gif

The hardest and most important thing to do is bending. Its a pain in the ass. There are many websites that explains how to do this, but I never got it right. Not that I practiced it much... I think I must start practicing again. There is one thing I always wanted to do, playin the blues while waiting for a plane, or whatever. But you cant take the guitar on the plane, so a harmonica would have been perfect. Just for fun and to impress people wink.gif

If you want the blues the best sounding harp to get is a key of A or G. I prefer G but get both, there are a few different makes, Hohner is a good quality harp maker though and not too expensive.

I found some great lessons on YouTube just do a search on there to learn the basics. What I find best is to listen to harmonica music and try get the same sound as the artist. Sonny Boy Williamson II was probably the best blues harmonica player that ever lived, he sometimes stuck the whole harp in his mouth and played laugh.gif.

This is a great instrument to learn, because its not hard to find 10 - 30 minutes practice a day. And if you get a harmonica rack you will be able to jam with yourself and your acoustic. smile.gif Good Luck!

Hey you're right. 30 min every day is probably enough to become a decent harmonica player ohmy.gif
Gonna go to youtube and search a little smile.gif

A horminca! that's sweet! I always like the sound it makes, and its portability I always wondered, how would a harmonica sound along with an acordion, since I think they kinda sound alike, well I'm just babbling on now, cool though definitely try to upload once you get good!

says that depending on how you hold the harmonica, like opening and closing your hand over where the sound comes from gives it some vibrato, or something like that.

Man just get one of those neck thingys so you can play guitar and harmonica at the same time!

We had to learn harmonica at my primary school so maybe I should hunt around and see if I still have mine.... Last time I tried to play it though I could only make horrible sounds sad.gif
