Hey Muris,

I was listening to your SOTW project, the latest updated version of it. When you sing, you can get a little "growl" on the high volume notes, for instance on the "FLARE gun" and "BURN" and in the second time you sing "WATER". Do you know what I mean?

How to produce this sound? It sounds really cool and rocking. Is it just singing very loud, or do you use a technique?

Thanks Muris, I have to say, you're not only a great guitarist, but also a very nice singer! I still don't get why you're not in some ultra popular rock band....

Thanks for your kind words Kaznie! smile.gif

As for growling,I found it easier to perform it louder,
it doesn't have to be higher note tho but louder, yes.
It can be done when singing quiet as well
but it just doesn't have the same effect, growling is meant to be loud. biggrin.gif
I really don't know how I do it,probably something in the throat,
what I was doing long ago is trying to imitate singers like James Hetfield,
David Coverdale,Steve Lukather etc.
And after some while you just get it,I really don't know how,
I would have to cut my throat and look deeper. laugh.gif

So I would suggest you to listen that kind of singers,
hear that growl and try to imitate/produce it,
it will come eventually. smile.gif

Ohh,you really need to have some mutation(I hope this is right word) first,
otherwise you might injure your voice badly!

As for cutting, knife is sharp and steady. wink.gif

listen to shinedown too, brent smith is an awesome vocalist, and correct me if im wrong, but the "growl" comes from the stomach not the throat, it just takes a bit practice to understand how to do it and im sure its different for everyone tongue.gif

No,I think you're wrong, growling is effect done by tightening the throat or some,
perhaps we don't think of same thing? smile.gif

Try to "contract" your belly, use the muscle... raise the tension in the biddle part of your body so to speak. That seem to help some.
