Bending Ballad, Lesson By Max Sokolov |
|
Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.
The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi mate!
This is a good idea. I think that this video will be a good reference to monitor your progress with this lesson. The main things to adjust in this one are: - bending - timing on faster passages - tapping cleanness and pitches - vibrato I recommend you to review this video deeply and identity the weaker sections to isolate and practice them slower to get used to the required technique. I'll here to check the next takes. Keep on the hard work! -------------------- My lessons

Hi Tim, good to see you working hard and pushing yourself towards improvement, as always.
Ok, this lesson is a tough one - even for experienced guitarists. I challenge anyone to play it as good as Max. Firstly, your pitch control needs work during your bending. One way of doing this is to fret and then play the note you will bend to, and then bend to it. For example, if you're bending a whole tone then first fret that note two frets above and then bend to that note from two frets below. You can do this with any interval. This will train both your hands and your ear at the same time. Secondly, you need to be able to add vibrato successfully to your bending. I can see you made the effort to do this but what you're doing is just moving the neck in your hands without actually affecting the strings. Have a look at this lesson of mine which focuses on vibrato on bends. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Vibrato-Odyssey-3/ However, in order for you to be able to make that lesson work you may need to take a look at this one https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Vibrato-Odyssey-5/ I hope this helps. Happy new year! |
