I want to buy a new guitar. I was looking at different options and found this one: http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/b...ku=519391%2e866
I don't have much money to spend, about 600 dlls. The music I like to play is blues, rock, and some metal. Is this a good option? Do you recommend me something else? Thanks, Mario. P.S. I specially like slash's sound.

I was actually looking at this myself in the past as a possible purchase. All I can say from what I've been told is that to stay away from guitar center. What I've been told by someone in the business is that they were recently sold to a large law firm out west who were looking for investments and write offs and that they are tightwads which = guitar center will no longer be offering the deals that they once did, the sales neither and that the lack of services performed will be severely lacking, not to mention the talent of their staff both sales and service will no longer be any good(was it ever?) The only other advice I can give you is to go to reputable dealer, play the guitar(S) and keep the one you like, don't let them say that they will go get you one from the back as the one you played is only for show, all guitars have their own sound and feel and if you played one you like then keep it because the chances of gettting another one right out of the box to feel and sound exactly the same will be impossible. I also have an an expensive Les Paul Standard. The mahogany has a mahogany top, not maple, so it is lighter. And it sounds a bit different than the standard, but still has good sustain, and I really like the sound. Comes with a hardshell case, really a good deal. Pickups are the same as on the standards, and this guitar really gets great pinch harmonics. |

A gibson les paul Studio pups are Alnico magnetic 490R and 498T. The woods used in a studio are Rosewood, Mahogany and Maple where the Epiphone uses only Mahogany. The finishes on the Gibson is where the look really kicks in, hold and epiphone next to a gibson of the same model and you can really see the difference. I guess they were going for a much different sound on the studio than they were on the standard and mahogany  ? Weird though IMHO.
