Great guitars but definitely not a 1969. They didn't make them yet (late 70s thru 90s). That one looks to be mid 80s - ?
That TP6 tail piece also didn't arrive until the mid 70s. Gibson serial numbers are sadly unreliable until you get in the mid 1970s. They had very poor record keeping and lost/stolen/destroyed log books. These are worth about $2000.00 *If you post the serial number I can get you closer date. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Thanks D.
Your guitar was made at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA July 16th, 1986 Production Number: 12 Post 1974 the 1st and 5th number of the serial # is the year ... 81976512 (for non-custom shop guitars). *First year for the HR was 1979. The axe is worth about $2000.00 w/OHSC in good ++ to mint condition (no case, maybe $1600.00). With nicks and dents and a few replacement parts, $1350.00. If you're looking for a vintage Gibson (or what will be a vintage Gibson) this is definitely worth considering. Besides Howard Roberts, these were/are played by Alex Leifson, Ted Nugent, Michael Ward (wall flowers), Don Mock and a lot of session players use them (very versatile). Still reasonably priced for a piece of american guitar history. This post has been edited by klasaine: Apr 23 2014, 05:35 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

I have a HR Fusion mk1 as well, mine's a tobacco burst so it has some red in the burst between the dark brown and golden yellow. They're a nice versatile semi in my opinion.
As Ken says they were first made @ 1980 onwards. I bought mine new for about £500 in the UK and I've seen them sell for anywhere between £1500-2000, so Ken's estimate looks spot on. I think a new HR MKIII is about £2500 list price but the street price is probably a lot less. On minor thing with that particular HR Fusion - the pickup covers have been removed. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. On minor thing with that particular HR Fusion - the pickup covers have been removed. Indeed they have. Good call Tony! 'If' you want this guitar, see if the owner has the covers. A set of late 70s to early 80s covers goes for between 100 and 200 bucks. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

My pleasure!
I love researching guitars and amps. I used to teach out of a vintage guitar shop. I learned a lot about gear and how to track stuff down. I also have people to ask. Let us know what you do. As I said, $2000.00 is top price, mint w/ohsc. I know its a friend but it is a buyers market, especially for that piece. I'd offer $1350.00 to start and not pay more than 2 grand if the orig pkup covers and case are extant. Here's some research sites ...
