GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Judas Priest And The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Posted by: brandon Apr 2 2009, 11:39 PM

So I was reading the other day that Metallica is going to be inducted in to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame....and I thought "how is it that they are being inducted before Priest?". When I think of metal bands that should be inducted the first 2 that come to mind are Sabbath and Priest. Sabbath changed the direction of rock (towards metal), Priest changed the direction of metal. So why is it that Metallica, the student, would be inducted before Priest, the teacher? So, even though I don't think it will do much good I've decided to start an online petition to urge the R&R Hall of Fame reps to induct Priest....Sabbath was inducted in 2006, so now it's Priest's turn. If you like to sign it please follow this link:

Those things are based on which band sold more records throughout the years. Hell when you think of the number of people that listen to Metallica over Priest, then you would know Priest is the lower band. Even people that doesn't associate themselves with Metal listen to Metallica. Priest, no matter how popular they are, is still pretty exclusive to Metal heads. Even Iron Maiden is still not inducted yet, and there one of the top sellers in Metal next to Metallica.

Its all just based on popularity and money.

It is kind of strange that they are not in, but I was not aware of it.

I remember when they were here back in the 80's with some warm up band that had the word hell, or satan or something along those lines in their name. There was a pretty good size religious type protest out front. I'm not saying that is what's going on here, it's just a memory that I have managed to keep. heh! It was a good show to btw.
