3. I've read that busking doesn't require a license in U.S. because of freedom of speech, anyone sure? I'm luckily not a lawyer and I'm not an American either. But as far as I know you need a license from the copyright holder to perform his or her works. So either play your own stuff or public domain stuff. And at least in Switzerland I think street music is illegal and you'd have to bother about the police rather than thieves - Jonas -------------------- My Website | My Gear | Elixir Nanoweb Strings Review | Installing Schaller Security Locks

Here in London you have hundreds of musicians on the street and underground stations. Every time I look in their "money box" they have many 10p coins which all together could be £5 in total for 3-4 hours playing. They always look freezing cold and I think it's just not worth it. Only once I saw a blind guy who whistle with his mouth (no real instrument) and his box was full of money Doesn't really matter what you play. You can play anything.

The guy sold about 50.000.000 records worldwide. One evening he went to the London's Covent Garden (big square with many musicians busking). Journalists asked how many hours he has been there. He said for 6 hours he made £10. haha I couldn't believe it -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Hopefully me and a friend are going to busker downtown this weekend. Just had a few questions and was wondering if anyone could answer them. 1. Should I be worried about my stuff getting stolen? (guitar, spare amp, microphone, guitar case with cash) 2. What are some good songs everyone would like to hear? 3. I've read that busking doesn't require a license in U.S. because of freedom of speech, anyone sure? 4. All I have is a gibson, so should i borrow my mates epiphone? 5. If an African swallow is carrying a coconut at a speed of................... thanks 1. Try to keep your stuff near you After all you are playing on the street and there may be some "thief" around but its highly unlikely that someone would try to steal from a street musician. 2. Classic rock like Beatles , Rolling Stones , Kansas etc etc is always good to hear...Generally songs that have lyrics , who is going to sing ?? 3. I don't really know how it works in US but I heard you need a licence for that in other cities...I guess they want to control who plays there and how well (since street musicians are kinda "famous" for some cities).... 4. If you feel that way and will be more secure , why not...Generally people you are going to entertain won't know which guitar is better or which one is more expensive. Have fun and tell us how it went! -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net
