i posted this on nemanja's page but i figured i could use as much help as i can get.

i'm trying to write some punk stuff, but i cannot get a good sounding vocal for the life of me. i recorded a riff and tried to improvise a vocal track on it (lyrics come last for me). pardon the poor production and the ear-splitting improv.

some things i noticed that aren't up to par:

-intonation (the worst offender)
-tone/singing technique
-phrasing
-recording techique (even when i sing on pitch it sounds like someone talking over a rock song)

i'm feeling completely overwhelmed and i have no idea how to start sounding good. =/

can anyone help me?

okay, so i'm starting to sing now that i've got some recording going. i'd like to play in the style of the starting line/fall out boy/pop punk.

but i just started and i suck hardcore. a couple things i've noticed i need serious help with:

+ intonation: i think this is definitely my what i'm worst at
+ phrasing/improvisation
+ tone/technique: part of the reason i sound horrible
+ recording technique: i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, but i can't get a good vocal sound at all through my rig (or maybe it's just my voice to start with?)

i'm feeling kind of overwhelmed and am not really sure what to work on or practice.

i have a little clip posted with an improvisation: i hope that helps some.

thanks guys!

alright, so when i try and playback tracks i've recorded (and occasionally while i'm recording), they sound distorted and fuzzy, with a little of latency. this happens randomly, and when it happens, it hits every track (including cubase's metronome, so i know it's not part of my recording technique).

nothing is clipping, i don't really record hot. anybody have any idea what's going on here?

it sounds horrible and it has put a grinding halt to my recording.

if it helps, i'm running a lexicon lambda into cubase LE 4.

thanks in advance

I just bought Addictive Drums as a supplement to Cubase LE. How do I get to launch?
Cubase doesn't recognize AD as a virtual instrument.

Thanks in advance,

Hey Gabriel,

I was wondering what were the chords that you arpeggiated in the first half of the first malmsteen lesson?
I'm trying to stay on top of my theory so i can apply these shapes into my own songs.
