Hey GMC,

lately I noticed my musical taste is changing somehow. Does not mean that I don't like the heavier stuff that I used to hear and will still hear a lot, but I also start to really dig into other genres. Maybe Im getting older wink.gif

I came up with lessons such as:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/phrasi...and-dynamics-2/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Blues-...-Fingerpicking/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Double-Stop-Ballad/

Im really amazed by this groovy bluesy funky guitar style. Now to my question. Does anyone have bands using similar styles? We are all trying to explore new music when we get rid of something, so maybe you can to open a new chapter wink.gif

Tim

He's a bit more aggressive in style than the examples you've posted but it might be worth checking out Dan Patlansky - he brings the funk when he plays the blues:

He gets a bit close to plagiarising Hendrix and SRV at times, which to my ears is a good thing smile.gif

Checking it out right now, will let you know if you hit the nail tongue.gif

Within the 1st song: yap, just what I was looking for. For sure it is a lil more dirty but that s fine with me. Great advise here!

Check out any David Grissom and the old band he was in Storyville.

For cleaner funky blues check out Tomo Fujito he has lots of stuff on Youtube and little lessons on facebook. He's a professor at Berklee and taught John Mayer. Also check out John Mayer's albums, maybe a little poppier but still some funky bluesy playing.

Shane Theriot is also very cool in this style of music, I'm not sure what he's done as he's more of a sideman

Damn, I have not listened to John Mayer for ages. Back then I didnt like his style too much. Now I'M DIGGING IT. Does this immediately result in me becoming older?

Will also check Fujito and Theriot! smile.gif
