I'm in love with the way Walliman explains all of his lessons!
Everyone at GMC is incredibly great, but as a beginner I have a soft spot for Dave, even though his lessons are NOT for beginners, but there's something in the way he explains them that makes them look so easy!
By the way, my name is Eddie and I'm new to GMC.
I'm still trying to understand how to post things correctly, in what board and so on... I guess it will take me some time...
Now, this one's for you Dave: could you PLEASE make 4 different lessons
for the 4 "basic" scales: minor pentatonic, major pentatonic, major, natural minor?
Thanks to Andrew I got most of the theory behind them, but I feel I would need some "Williman exercises" to kind of get them into my head and onto my fingertips.
I'm sure all GMC beginners would benefit from them.

Yeah that would be great, I also could need these leson, especially for the minor and the major scale
I know the scales (only 1st position ), how they work (thanks to Andrews theory lessons), but I dont get real music out of it, so I could need some inspiration.
I saw the legato lesson, but this is too hard for me, a beginner to indermediate lesson would be pretty good, I think.

David, if you going to do such lessons, you could maybe make some exercises how to connect the scales and some licks, which we can use for improvisation etc.
Would be great if you do something like that

I sure will work on these requested lessons.
I just finished 2 that are about to be posted, but I'll try to work on these 4 subjects in the next ones.

You definetely are a great guitarist but I also think that you have a flair for teaching!

Hi there!
I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled I am!
I can't wait to start practicing these 4 lessons, and hopefully in a few months or more I'll be able to "face" your lessons on modes and chordal progressions... See? I've already got a practicing routine in mind!
For now I spend most of my time in Andrew's theory board, trying to "understand" music.
Fact is, my aim is not to become a fast guitarist, but a good songwriter/guitarist with (hopefully) nice melodic ideas...
I'm so thankful that you even considered reording these 4 lessons I asked for.

Hi David, Eddie again.
While waiting for your lessons I'm working really hard on the 4 basic scales:
boxes, root notes, relations between the notes, fingering, etc.
The good news is that my blisters have disappeared
and I can "play" (scales) all day long without feeling pain!
Now, I noticed that I tend to sweat quite a bit
and this leaves my strings kind of dirty.
Any tips on how to clean my guitar when I put it to rest?
How do you clean yours?
As I said in my previous post, I can't wait for the first lesson!

Hi Eddie,
just a soft cloth will work.. I had a friend who used some paper for each string, but never really tried that..
I'm glad you are not hurting anymore!
I'm uploading a lesson on basic minor pentatonic scales right now..
I have 1 before that that are in cue. But once it's, the pentatonic one will be there. :-)

Hi David, it's Eddie.
First of all thank you very much for your minor pentatonic lesson, it is beautiful!
At the moment I'm practicing scales a lot. I started learning all the 5 shapes by heart, and now that I have learned them, (min pent, maj pent, min and maj) I'm practicing them, as Muris says, thinking :
trying to learn the notes, listening to tones and semi-tones, paying attention to root notes, AP, etc.
Once I feel confident about scales I'm going to face your "basic" lessons.
This one's just to thank you
But please keep them coming.

Hi David!
First of all thank you for all of your pentatonic lessons:
minor, major, modulation, bending... Together with Muris' lessons on AP, legato and Major/Minor scales
they are really taking me beyond my wildest expectations!
I feel that in 2 months and a half I've learned loads of stuff and I'm practicing constantly and stubbornly.
Here's my question to you: in your "bending licks" lesson there are parts in which you hit an F sharp.
Is it because of the chord in the backing track? And in that very moment can we consider it as a very short modulation?

Sorry I missed your question!
Yes, the F# that I'm playing is borrowed from the Dorian scale. That's the Major 6th of A. We can use it here because Dprian blends very well with pentatonics. Also, since there are no 6th played in the backing track, that means that that note is not impsed, therefore we have the freedom to use it in our lead...
