This sounds very beautiful. Is it your arrangement? Thank you Gab and yes, my arrangement. The tune is beautifully composed. I really didn't do much to it. *I just got a re-fret on that (very cheap) guitar and I wanted to hear it as well as feel it playing a song. I recorded it VERY late last night, hence the low volume. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

yes! this take has your feeling and spirit. That's not a little thing... Thanks, I appreciate that. *I recorded it several times but I never got the feeling/performance better than the first (and unfortunately distorted) take. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Thanks, I appreciate that. *I recorded it several times but I never got the feeling/performance better than the first (and unfortunately distorted) take. This happens a lot when you record. Even when I work as a producer I notice that first takes on guitarists and singers are usually the best ones. There is something related to recency that makes them special... -------------------- My lessons

There is something related to recency that makes them special... I think it's the little taste of the unknown that makes many 'first' takes the keepers. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

You can learn to 'let it go'.
After 3 or 5 takes I usually need to get up and walk around for a minute, have a conversation, maybe a glass of water (or sip of wine/beer). But mostly you got to get in your head space that "you're going to do it - it just may take some time - let it come - and be aware when it does". Conversely ... don't be afraid to use the first take. If it's only one bad note or rhythm(?) - just fix it. No dishonor in that. Everybody does it. This post has been edited by klasaine: Jun 4 2014, 05:37 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Mostly, I record for other people. My way of getting and staying in the zone is to remember that - I'm here because someone else thinks I should be.

Ken that's a very nice composition I enjoyed every part. I'd be happy to hear more! Thank you Jim. It's a beautiful tune. I 'wish' I wrote it . *I have a dozen or more chord solo arrangements here ... https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXZh...5iIdO2tpgtj25Ke The sound quality is all over the place. All 'covers'. They're just recorded in the room with a handheld Zoom vid cam. Primarily done so I don't forget the arrangements. A few were requests.
