What songs do you feel have the deepest or most meaningful lyrics? I usually don't pay much attention to lyrics, but some songs have lyrics powerful enough that the music doesn't really matter.
Anything goes, sad songs, inspirational, religious, just about anything...
I don't know very many lyrics, but let's see what I can think of...
Dream On - Aerosmith
Dust In the Wind - Kansas
- Both songs about time passing by.
In This Diary - The Ataris
- About your youth being the best time of your life, don't let it pass by.
Be Yourself - Audioslave
- Um... Be yourself...
In the Name of God - Dream Theatre
- About atrocities committed supposedly "in the name of God."
Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
- Well, what I get out of it is making music for yourself, not to conform to whatever others expect. "It ain;t what they call, rock n' roll..."
Good Charlotte Several songs, actually... I like their lyrics.
- The World is Black; the world looks bleak sometimes.
- The Anthem; Be yourself, "Don't want to ever be you, don't want to be just like you"
- We Believe; Having faith even during hard times.
Drive - Incubus
- Take control of your life.
Do You Remember - Jack Johnson
- Just another cheesy reminiscing song...
Castles Made of Sand - Jimi Hendrix
- Dreams coming to an end.
John Mayer, too many to name, he has great lyrics!
Hurt - Nine Inch Nails (But I like the Johnny Cash version better! )
- Realizing you've become something that you hate.
Don't Stop Believing - Journey
-About never giving up on your dreams.
Kutless, got 2 here.
-Million Dollar Man - Money doesn't really matter, "he's got everything he wanted, but now all he wants is what he had"
-Sea of Faces - About not getting caught up in what you're "supposed" to be, just be yourself.
Going to California - Led Zeppelin
- About finding a new beginning.
Muse, got a couple here, too.
-Starlight - About love staying true in any circumstances.
-Bliss - This gives me the idea of how seemingly "perfect" people (celebrities and the like) cause everyday people to feel worthless.
Lullaby - Pedro the Lion
- Never give up hope.
Red Hot Chili Peppers, got a few from them, too.
-Californication - The effect Hollywood has in making the world such a material place.
-The Zephyr Song - Freaking awesome, because it's about me! Maybe not...
-Under the Bridge - How your hometown is a part of you.
U2, quite possibly the most inspirational band ever!
-Beautiful Day - Seize the day!
-Where the Streets Have No Name - Fighting injustice around the world.
Every Song Ever Written By - Steve Vai/Joe Satriani
- It doesn't need words, freaking awesome!
*Whew* That was quite a list, I just went through my play list and added any that I remembered had meaningful lyrics... Let's see what you guys come up with! I'm sure there's a heck of a lot that I forgot, but oh, well.
