Hi Everyone

What were your guitar goals for 2013 and did you achieve them. What goals are you setting for 2014.

My 2013 goals were 1)To get better at timing
2)Record the lessons I learned and upload them to the REC section for feedback

Well I completely failed 2013 laugh.gif I find it hard to use a metronome and timing is just something that is really hard for me.There are songs I have listened to for years and I cant even sing along on time to them. This problem was holding me back from recording the lessons I learned.

So my 2014 goals are same as above plus learn as much theory as I can. Hopefully at the end of 2014 I can post that my goals have being achieved.

My goal for 2013 was to get sweep picking at a level similar to my alternate picking level. I didn't achieve this goal but I am not entirely unhappy either. I am more comfortable with sweeping definitely now compared to beginning this year. I also finished a nice lesson that had some sweeps in.. For 2014, I want to continue on this goal and also improve my articulation..

This is a great thread. 2013 has been a very intense year for me since I moved, and my band Cirse recorded and edited a new album. We worked very hard on the album and had our best year in band's history. More concerts, more press diffusion, and more audience in concerts, we could play in international festivals... I also moved with my girlfriend to the center of the city and a new life has started for me, full of love and nice moments. (also with lots of electricity cuts!).

I failed with gym... the busy days made it very difficult but I hope to give it more priority the next year.

Thats really good news about your band Gabriel.A wish 2014 is a even better year for your band.

Yeah sometimes it feels like there is not enough hours in a day to do what you want.I do a program called insanity which is a intense cardio workout. It lasts around 40minutes and do it in my house.

Just checked your thread it is very interesting to read. Thanks for posting

I'm hoping to do more lessons on GMC this year as well. I came across this site around July last year and it's bee an amazing place. There's so much support here on these forums that I haven't really seen anywhere else on the internet.

A big thing for me this year is versatility: I want to learn different styles of music, and slowly become a very versatile musician. In the future, I would love to freelance or do session work, so for that I think it's very important that I am versatile across many genres and also technically proficient. Whatever I need to learn to get closer to that is on my list for 2014 smile.gif

Here is a video of it Gabriel

I heard about it a couple of year ago on the TV. The guy who made it is called Shaun T. I am sure he was a track runner at one point.

It tests you to the limits when doing the 60 day challenge. At times you just feel physically drained. I have completed the 60 days twice. Now a just do it 4 days a week instead of the 6 days.

Yeah GMC is definitely amazing. I think this must be the only site where everyone in the forums respect one another and are very helpful no matter what the question.

Looks like you have 2014 planned out pretty well. All the best and I hope you achieve what you want to. smile.gif

My goals for 2013 were very little, perhaps practicing once a week, which I failed. This year it's to convince my grandparents to keep paying for GMC, then perhaps learn a song all the way through that isn't by The Ramones. Also getting better with alternate picking, and fixing my guitar would both be nice things.

My goal is getting this old instrument back into playable condition....it's in poor shape and it will take quite some time to restore it
to a respectable level.But it's full of potential !

Looks very nice, what guitar is it? It looks almost like a Les Paul, but I noticed that the angle of the cutaway is ever so slightly different from a Gibson Les Paul wink.gif

It was build in 74 or 75 in West-Berlin..Les Paul style...it's a one of a kind guitar therefore! It's been in the case for almost 20 years now and still it has heavily corroded hardware and frets and may need decent neck and hardware restoring. But the neck position is great...i plugged it in to see what happens and my neck hair came up !! smile.gif

The first fret pearl inlay is a bit weird though...LP custom style

Also since I just started the beginner fingerpicking lesson, finding a way to not make my fingertips so ticklish would make this a lot easier. rolleyes.gif

Do you have longer finger nails on your right hand? smile.gif You might wanna grow some as it will help a lot with the attack and tone. Also you need to cut them in a certain way for maximum effect with a posture of the right hand that is nothing near the classical position. I will make a movie to demonstrate something about this, so stay tuned tongue.gif Here we go:

Oh that looks helpful. Hopefully I can even get my nails that long, because they're really weak and seem to sort of implode after they go about half of a centimeter past my fingertips. Thanks for the video smile.gif
