STRIKE ONCE HAMMER MANY!!!!!
This is a lick with the patented "Strike Once, Hammer Many" technique. All that means is that you strike an open string, and then you hammer on several notes. So from one pick strike, you get a total of 4 notes!!! This lick is on two strings, so with 2 strikes you get 8 notes!! Keeping a solid palm mute makes it sound like you are picking all of the notes. So you can get some serious shred crazy speed on this while only picking a couple of notes!!!

*NOTE: Keep it smooth and under control. If you find you are losing control, slow down just a pinch. If you want to add one take where you are pushing the edge for speed and get a bit wonky, that's perfectly fine.

BINGO!!! This is a very handy lick for working ones hammer on technique. Try it on ALL the strings for extra work and extra fun!!! You can also play entire scales this way. For example, A MINOR, just play the 3 note per string version of A minor and use an open string on low E all the way to High E. or use some permutation of E minor and do the same approach. I've worked this in to various solos and it works great! It turns the E Minor 3 note per string in to an E minor four note per string!!!

There ya go!! You got left hand going on! It sounds like you are on the neck pickup which is sorta getting in the way a pinch of being able to make it sound like 4 pick strikes in a row instead of one pick strike and three hammer ons. This requires the bridge pup for tone and a pretty stiff right hand palm mute. Still, just being able to play 3 notes in a row that are not picked is a HUGE deal. Super congrats! you just....

Yup! That proves it smile.gif Some licks benefit from the neck pup, others, less so. I have several coming up that work well on the neck pup.

Perfect. This is the best take of this that I've yet seen. You've raised the bar yet again. Timing is spot on, mute is solid, and speed is impressive. Not to mention you handle the stretch with ease. You make this lick look easy my friend. I love your takes on these. They are always top notch and set the bar as high as it can go. You always show that these licks are possible and that you can play them at any speed. Truly impressive. Great take!!!

That's the stuff!!! Well done! This one requires just one strike and then lots of left hand power. Also, it's done while muting which some folks find really tricky. too much mute and you choke it out before you get all the notes in. Too little mute, and you get string noise as we are playing this over two strings. You gotta find the "mute balance" point where it's just enough but not too much. That's the idea behind this drill. You do a fine job of finding that point. Good strikes and fretting. You got this!!

You just..

LEVELED UP!!
