Just finished remixing this, and the final mix came out great I think. I needed to beef up the low end more and I think I got a good balance in here. Check it out on SoundCloud or Youtube!

First off, well don! It sounds a bit like Arch Enemy to me which is never a bad thing. smile.gif The writing and arrangement and playing is quite good. The mix sounds good too! I would like to hear the guitars a bit more if possible. The drums are working but might be a tad hot in the mix relative to the other sources. I'm guessing the drums are VST/Software (Ez drummer/BFD, etc.), or loops, which means you usually have to take great pains to not make them end up sound like software drums or loops. There is a china boy cymbal in the song that sorta sticks out in this regard. It may need it's own channel, and it's own compressor / fx if possible.

The vocals BTW are quite good. Are you singing? And they are well recorded as a bonus which is it's own art. Anyhoo, nice work on this tune!

Todd

I will check the china and the guitars - All the drums are routed with multi-channel so I can slap a compressor on the china if need be, to be honest after sitting and listening to this song over and over for three days I doubt I would of noticed that laugh.gif

I will probably have to lower the mix relative to the guitars, the part before the solo has a lot going with neo-classical style melody, the guitars, and the vocals (which are double-tracked).

Oh, and yes that is me singing. You'd be probably laugh at how they are recorded - I've altered a closet door in my house into a small sound platform to give them more filling, I cant always make it to the studio laugh.gif

I agree with Todd here. Have a look at the instrument balance and in particular consider taking the drum bus down relative to the guitar and voc. Doesn't need to be too much but enough to get them to sit further back. I'd also suggest experimenting at mastering with versions that have the voc up and down relative to this mix - I think it may need the voc up but experiment.

You might only need to check the attack on the drum compressor or on any limiter you have on the 2 bus as it sounds like the attack time is wrong and letting the fast transients slip through and clip.

Excellent job with this song. I cannot comment on the mix too much because of the current crappy speakers, but what I hear is a lot of reverb on the vocals, possibly too much. I could be wrong tho?
