I've heard good things, but I refuse to pay for a relatively expensive plectrum tongue.gif

V picks are alright. For me they wore down too much, and had too much of a chrip to it. Red Bear are GREAT, but I didn't like the bevel for sweeping, and without bevel they wore down a tad bit too fast. Now I'm back to DAVAs smile.gif

I ordered a starter kit a few months ago, I like them, but its attack is way too loud and "chirpy", so I don't use it for recording (maybe for rhythm).

I stopped using really thick picks and started using 0.75 - 1.50. They are way too expensive.

Hey guys, I'm very curious about these picks!

I was wondering if some of you have ever tried one or many of them?

I switch back and forth between these and a different (very different pick), and have been doing so for about 2 years. In fact I think I am going to switch back to V-picks for awhile again, now that you made me think about it.

I would recommend either the medium pointed or the screamer to try it out, maybe get one of each. Those two are pretty similar. I feel that they force you into more precise technique, a grazing clean strike, a relaxed strike, to use them effectively. However you really get unsurpassed clarity with them.

I have a number of different types of V Picks. Rounded and Pointed. I have even used the Diamond/Snake types, again rounded and pointed. Perhaps in time I might gravitate to the pointed Diamond or Snake. I might use rounded ones for specialties, but I have not used those in awhile. I also would not get a thin one. What is the point of that?, you might as well use a traditional pick then. I feel that flexible picks are more forgiving of technique flaws, but you can never get the clarity that you can get with something like a pointed stiff V Pick.

Trond Vold liked them. He vanished a year ago, but he certainly played quite nice I think, one of best here in my view in terms of artistry of his play.

edit: On reflection and using my V-Pick again, pointed screamer or medium, I am not sure which it is......

I agree with everything I wrote before. The notes really stand out, and it gets easier once you get used to it. I also repeat, in my view they force you into better picking technique, they are less forgiving of flawed technique. But rewarding if you adapt to them. Brian May played with a small coin, he certainly was known for fine tone, and good technique.

I've been using V-picks since they first got posted about here on gmc smile.gif
I don't use any other picks and i nearly always use my v-pick Dimension.
Its huge with 1 sharp point and 2 round ones, it costs alot i think for 1 pick but ive been using this same one for like a year so it's not really that expensive..

I used to use Orange Dunlop Tortex picks, now I use Dunlop Jazz IIIs - I really dig 'em! smile.gif

I haven't heard about V-picks until now actually, I definately have to try one out.

I know there are these picks look almost deformed actually, there like a regular pick but when it comes to the end where the pick makes contact with the string it turns into a curved shape. I believe it was to achieve the affect of holding your pick at an angle or something like that.

I have a couple, and I personally love them!
One reason may be that I bought a V-Pick leather keychain I'm running around pimping with!
