So, the geeks amongst you may have heard of Wolfram Alpha - it's a new kind of search engine like google, but in fact it really isn't - it deals in data, conversions correlations. It lets you request data presented in graphical form and many other cool things.
But bear with me - it also just happens to be the coolest musical dictionary out there! Check it out at http://www.wolframalpha.com and try a few of these: Want to know the notes in a Db Lydian scale, Enter "Db lydian" Want to know what note is a minor 3rd up from Ab, enter "Ab minor 3rd" Want to know what scale has the notes "A C D E G", enter "A C D E G A" (It will also tell you that it is a dominant 11th chord!) Want to know the notes in an e minor chord? Type in "E minor chord" Cool huh? -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Cool man, I bookmarked the site. Typed in D minor and...Alternate scale names appeared...
Natural minor Aeolian Gregorian scale 2 Asavari Thaat Se 2906 (12-digit binary Found the Gregorian a bit fascinating. Seems to be a form of Celtic Chant. A Gregorian mode (or church mode) is one of the eight systems of pitch organization used to describe Gregorian chant |

Please read the terms of service. They've been getting attention on Slashdot because the terms are quite different from Google. I'm just sayin'...
