As said earlier its important to practice on clean channel , you will allow you to hear better and gain better sound control..Than if you want you can switch to dist channel.

Well I never really practice with my amp turned on, it would be too much of a hassle for me. I think you can in reality practice everything unplugged. If it is quiet you'll hear every mistake you make.

If I wanna get something clean and tight, I practice it with distortion. Much harder to keep things clean with distortion then without
