Posted by: Washburned Dec 22 2008, 03:18 PM

Hi everyone , I was looking for some recording hardware through PC, so I could record my improvisations , and maybe even using some nice distortions instead of my amp's , not something professional, around the 70-80$

hope you can help me with that rolleyes.gif

My vote for Toneport GX as well. Here's a http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/wiki/index.php/Toneport_gx of it on Wiki. You will get a modeler software with it called the Gearbox, which is cool. I use it for all my lessons.

Yep Toneport GX or the new newer Studio GX, basically the same thing.

ok it looks good , but is the quality depends much on the sound card?

Posted by: Velvet Roger Dec 22 2008, 04:28 PM

Not at all, as the Toneport GX is an audio interface (replacing effectly the soundcard of your PC for the recording).

I use toneport gx for all my recordings

and one more question guys , would it be fine if I connect to it my amp through an adapter ? or is it just too much ? wink.gif

The gearboxs/studio software is actually modelling all kinds of amps. You should be directly connecting your guitar in the Toneport GX in order to have the best sound quality.

yea , well i meant if there anyway connecting my amp to the output of Toneport with an adapter ? and if it sounds fine :\

Sure it can be done no problem mate. You can put any amp, pedal or processor unit in front of GX and it will give you that sound. But most of the time you won't have to as GX has Gearbox which is great for plug&play thing. But you do can connect anything else if you want.

Also - GX is (external USB) sound card. You won't be using your current soundcard when you buy this unit, it will be your sound card, just connect the speakers to GX output and your good to go.

alright , I got it , thanks to everyone wink.gif
(too bad we have only UX's here in Israel sad.gif )

Posted by: inertia Dec 24 2008, 06:23 PM

Yeah the UX is a bit more, but you get a mic option so if you want to use a mic to record down the road you can.

Toneport GX or UX , I use UX2 and couldn't be happier...Its really easy to use interface and covers everything you'll need in home recording smile.gif
