I do not know all about guitars but I can offer this:
LTD is ESP. It's like buying a Corvette and seeing parts that are stamped "Chevrolet". To the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as an LTD pickup. Now, if your pickups said "Wal-Mart", then you could be worried (no offense Brandon! laugh.gif ). I just traded for an LTD and the pickups, neck plate, and headstock are all stamped "ESP". See my thread "Traded guitars today" and you will see in some of the posts how the guitar is referred to as an ESP / LTD. As for your particular model, I have no idea of the quality but, no, the salesman was not misleading you.... it is an LTD. I personally wish everything still just said ESP but that is only my personal preference.
Looking at this, $200 is the average price for this model. The Jackson I traded for my LTD cost substantially more and I traded even. However, the LTD suits me better, plays better, and sounds better. In other words, price is not the only thing to look at. If you like it, you got a good deal!

LTD by ESP is a bit like Squier Strats by Fender, I guess ? smile.gif

Either way, the ones I've seen up close are quality guitars, pure and simple. It's amazing what great guitars you can get for your bucks these days... enjoy it ! cool.gif

LTD-M50NT are about $200-250 brand new. The action is probably quite high on it when you get it but once its setup it won't be half bad.

I had this bad boy for awhile its a LTD Alexi-600 not that bad of a guitar, played pretty good also. Just after awhile being a V it got on my nerves when I had to stand to play everything.

Haha gosh I bet his is perfected as fat as set up with mods, but just the fact it is the same brand I feel so justified!! biggrin.gif It has the body style and set up of your grey striped guitar Cosmin, they had an Ibanez white with gold stuff that is the same model as the one you have with a hand grip, but it was $2,000.00...gah It was nice tongue.gif I just want to be able to play any guitar awesome, haha biggrin.gif

Haha, I actually watched a bunch of you tube videos the past couple days, and decided to do a fret leveling job on it, and how to adjust the trust rod. I actually have the action very close, but If you have any tips, or a process that I could do the get it even tighter, I'd be willing to follow instructions sir. biggrin.gif I'd like to get the action really as close as possible.. Thanks for the input!

Is that normal? LOL biggrin.gif I even moved the light around where it is so it would reflect perfect when I walk by... ugh

I used to have the exact same guitar (it can be seen on my early youtube vids). I had to sell my KH 602 and I bought mh-50 for 150 euros.

Well it's really low end guitar. You can get started with it but I would recommend at least 300/400 models. 50 - models are the cheapest of Esp/ Ltd series.

Posted by: derper Mar 19 2012, 06:45 PM

Congrats!! If you love the guitar, then that's really what you're after! In my opinion, when you "need" to upgrade....you'll know it! wink.gif Just keep practicing, and get out and play other guitars occasionally.

Regarding the setup, I personally discourage most people to attempt to modify at all. I feel that for a correct setup, there are so many factors working together, and without proper tools and training....you stand to fix one thing, but throw off a bunch of other things you may not notice at the time because you're so excited about the low string height, etc. BUT, some people disagree with my opinion on that, and feel that many are capable of doing a decent setup with the proper instructions. That's opinion.....but a PROPER setup is fact. It's science. It's intonation.

laugh.gif
So....enjoy your new guitar, and that "new gear HIGH"!! (My bandmates and I sing a little tune they put together, every time one of use gets some new gear. tongue.gif )

You payed a good price for it! It's a good sounding guitar made of mahogany and has a through neck! It is as close to LP you will get for this money! Also what I like about LTD you can add some upgrades and make it even better!
Congrats man! I think you got a sweet deal!

Posted by: thefireball Mar 19 2012, 11:03 PM

LOL at Jon! laugh.gif You must read my blog to know I work at Walmart. Or maybe I told you?

The only real problem I see with the guitar you have is the floating trem. Its most likely not made from hardened steel, so it will wear out pretty fast. Then it won't be able to stay in tune and you'll eventually have to block it off. When it comes to long term reliability, the only floating trems I would consider are the Original Floyd Rose and the Schaller Floyd Rose. The top of the line Ibanez guitars also have great trem systems. But any other Floyd Rose Licensed trem that is on the market will not have long term durability.

The 1000 series LTD's are almost the same as their ESP equivalents. The LTD's are made in Korea and the ESP's are made in Japan. All the hardware is the same with the exception of the tuners. Also, some of the Korean Eclipse series guitars don't have maple tops.

Posted by: dark dude Mar 20 2012, 01:33 PM

Looking at the model, there's a bit of confusion as to what guitar you have. Here are the details, should you require them (if you haven't found this already):

Direct link: http://www.espguitars.com/guitars/ltd-standard-deluxe/mh-50nt.html

SPECIFICATIONS:

*Bolt-On Construction
*25.5" Scale
*Basswood Body
*Maple Neck
*Rosewood Fingerboard
*42mm Standard Nut
*Thin U Neck Contour

*24 XJ Frets
*Chrome Hardware
*ESP Tuners
*TOM Bridge
*ESP LH-150 (B & N) p.u.
*Finish: BCH (Black Cherry)

*Master Volume
*3-Way Toggle
*Master Tone

EDIT: Also, as Mudbone was saying, many don't realise the quality of the ESP LTD range. I have an EC-1000, the one Andy James is using in the video up there, and it's stellar. I've never tried one of the lower numbers, so it's hard for me to comment, Tucker, but I trust in their quality overall. It looks like it'll serve you well for a few years - I'm sure you'll appreciate the 24 frets and the upper-fret access!

Posted by: Alex Feather Mar 20 2012, 09:41 PM

WOW I got confused! And thought about totally different instrument smile.gif
This one is a good one as well! LOL

I couldn't agree with this more!!! (And not just because I do Set-ups for a Shop.)
A lot of my Set-ups are basically re-setting the bad set ups and mistakes made by people who don't know what they need to do or how to do it.
When i confront them about what needs doing it invariably receives the answer "Well, my mate who's been playing for a few years told me that this/that was the problem and that I should do this/that to fix it!"

Enjoy the new axe mate!!

if it feels good, that is all that matters
if you need it to sound better, put an after market pup in it and you will be set

Looks like a really nice axe and a sounds like you paid a fair price, well done! I've never regretted adding instruments to my collection. I've only ever regretted selling them!

Haha, the "new gear high" is so great man lol! biggrin.gif I I used to be cool about that kind of thing, you know, not really let anyone know I was excited and diminish my bluff... biggrin.gif Now I don't care so much, I'm a dork on the inside, always have been haha! I like anything that is positive and makes me excited like a kid with a new transformer. biggrin.gif LOL Yea, I watched you tube videos, sanded the frets, shimmied the neck, and I would guess about 2 or maybe 3 more tweaks it will be so unplayable I will use the purposely set back $150.00 to take it to a professional. But no force on planet earth will force me to go against human nature...LMAO biggrin.gif Thanks for real man

Ah man Alex, thanks!! biggrin.gif Haha, I'm so excited about it even a week later!:D Even though it isn't a super high end setup, in the excitement of getting it, I am so motivated to learn more, play more, etc, haha.
