GMC Forum _ Instructors Corner _ Palm Harmonics

Actually I'm sure I didn't invent this but I have found a way of playing harmonics by picking over the neck and using the heel of my palm to lightly touch the string and start a harmonic - has anyone heard of or used this technique before? Is there a name for it?

I've been playing it but rarely must admit sad.gif
Yeah,palm harmonics is proper name.
Similar stuff is like when you do some hammers and pull-offs on lower strings while moving palm above string, slightly touching it.
Some call it "auto flange effect". smile.gif

Wow - that's a cool one! Your palm touches the note for a harmonic when you pull off, and not when you hammer on, sounds like a wierd squeaky thing- gonna try it some more smile.gif
