I love my Amplifire 12 BUT.................... Line 6 have just released the Helix LT. Using Anderton's 30 day Exchange plan I could swap (and pay the difference of £90) my AA12 for a Helix LT.

I have 2 days left.

Please discuss, please advise, please HELP.

Thanks

Next week something else will come out smile.gif It never stops. You can always swap and try the line 6, and if you don't like it, return it, and get the other one back smile.gif

Unless they invent something else before now and then and you wanna try that first. Trying gear is fun smile.gif

In the UK, because of the odd situation with the Amplifire price, I think it's a no brainer. IMHO, exchange it. The effects and amp routing options are quite a bit better in the Helix and are more than worth the difference in the price.

This is not easy at all. Any chance you can test the Helix? They are both 2 great unit, at end, I think, it will be your taste and the way you will use them.

If still haven't got rid of the gt100 then exchange it biggrin.gif

I read some comments today, the amps and basic fx of amplifire doesn't seem rediculously good or even better than the helix but as to modulation stuff seems the new Helix has more emulations in it.

I don't see much risk here cause both considered devices are solid+dependable.

The helix isn't available for a week so i cant try it. I've emailed Andertons to see if it's possible due to the two timescales. They're a pretty fair company so I'll see what they say.

Cheers

I still have the GT100, I'm just thinking that I may be able to get a Helix LT without losing any money on the AA12. Don't get me wrong, i do really like the AA but the Helix LT has more scope and I'm wondering how long Atomic will take to release what I'm waiting for. If Andertons won't do the exchange because of the LT not coming out for a week and my 30 days up in two days then my mind will be made up for me wink.gif

Can you get a full refund for your AA? If so just return it and then compare the two when Helix is out

Full refund within 14 days, return and exchange within 30 days. Maybe i could do what Todd says and if i. Don't like the Helix LT return it and exchange back to the AA.

I'll await their email but please carry on discussing.

Thanks

Phil,
You are in a very difficult situation (though it is an happy one). I'm glad that I have the smaller Amplifire so the new Helix is way above it, price wise. I would push you to do as you mentioned, swap and if you don't like go back to AA.
But as Toddi says, you (well we, I constantly do this) should stop in one point. After the Helix the new 11r is coming, and then Boss is expecting to release something new, Kemper as well as so on and on.
Anyway, have a look at the Gear Page, the discussion on the new Helix is growing and member started mentioning comparison with the Amplifire.
Take it easy, it should be fun, but know your pain

My big problem is I only have today to decide. I don't think I'd ever go for the Headrush, the company isn't established yet even though it is said to have some old 11r staff. I was apprehensive about the Atomic because they apparently have a rep of stopping support on their lines. I actually wanted a Helix but could justify paying out that much given my skill levels so I'm leaning towards the Helix LT. I think the Helix LT had everything I wish the AA had and hope for in the future.

Cheers

So, get the Helix! I got the Amplifire because of his price but really the Helix was the best option for me, could not justify all the crazy I/O features. But if they had the LT back then, I would not have thought twice.
Plus, Andertonss is a quite short drive for me, carefully avoided for GAS reason.

PS i do not want to push you but discussion can help you clarify your mind

Hi Phil,
From what I read you will regret not sending the AA back and go for the Helix. Just for this reason I would do it.
It will keep you enjoying your playing and that is good so.

We are at a age where time slowly runs out. I also never thought I would spend more than 100 euro on a guitar ohmy.gif

All the best
Tom

Yes...if you have any single doubts an amplifier, then you will regret not to replace it. It's more about you than our feedback. And for us it's clear you simply struggle to replace it with helix. Go for it.

A friend of mine own amplifier. It's huge advantage is it's size. Also...same as most of modern sim devices it can be used with additional impulses or configured with real amp. We were struggling for quite same time and couldn't get a proper live tone before my friend got some additional impulses. I know Amplifier can work perfectly but it takes some time. More doesn't always mean better. I usually like to simplify things - have only as much as I need

If i had invested a lot of time getting to understand the AA12 then I would not change, but as I've only scratched the surface I think the LT is probably the way to go. I'm basically getting everything I would use in the Helix for much less money wink.gif

Do it, you don't even have to resell and take a loss on the Amplifire. No brainer, you just got a 30 day extended trial, now you get to try something else.

They've just got back to me and I have to say, "How fair is that?" Incredible service really when they could have said "We can only exchange with items already in stock".

Here is their reply. A big thumbs up to Andertons of Guilford.

Hi Phil,

We’re not expecting these to come in until the 18th April, however it could well be delayed further than that.
What we could do is reserve one for you and complete the exchange when the LT’s arrive to us? Please be aware there will be a £20 courier charge for this exchange.
Let me know how you’d like to proceed!

Watching all those videos makes me think the Helix is more future proofed for me and might even allow me to sell the GT100 so it's win win smile.gif

UPDATE: I do have to send the AA back though as it is at the end of the 30 days. Fair enough though. smile.gif

Make a quick video if you can on the ATOMIC before you send it back and put it on your youtube channel! I'd love to hear the patches and see a walk through of it. I'm sure others would as well smile.gif I do that when I get get, even if I sell it I still have the review up.

Good to know that you can try the ATOMIC and then try the Helix smile.gif As long as you can try what youi are in good shape smile.gif Getting new experience with new gear is always a good thing IMHO smile.gif

CONGRATS on your new HELIX btw smile.gif Killer box!

Hey Phil,

I can notice that you want to do this change so I think that you should go for it. I have not experience with these two devices so I can't give specific comments but from what I can note in your comments, I don't think that you'll regret this move, but maybe you'll regret if you don't do it.

Follow your heart, send it back. smile.gif
