How good is this amp? is it really 100% tube ? cause Ihave read that it was half slidstate :S ? but if its that way does it still react like a tube amp ... finally is 900 euro a good deal on this head ? (its used (it has 10 months) and comes W/ footswitch and 1960A cab )

Posted by: Skewlbuzz May 21 2010, 09:29 AM

The JVM series is all tube.

Are we talking the 410 head or combo?

About the Head .. smile.gif

This is Marshalls Flagship Amp, It is 100% tube with all the modern features you could want (midi, silent recording out, digital Reverb)

It has 4 channels with 3 gain stages each - that gives you 12 diffrent channels from fenderish cleans to brutal Death Metal and every legendary Marshall tone in between (ACDC; Slash; Hendrix; Iron Maiden)

I had this amp for quite a while and I will get myself a second one once I have the money!

Awsome .. Does it clean up nicely w/ rolled volum knob on guitar ??

btw: do you think that the 900 euro is a sweet deal for this amp and cab ?

Depends on your country. In Denmark head + stack goes for 1750 euros new. So I guess it's cheap no matter what. If the condition is good.

It seems its a great deal, but can you try the amp in person before you get it? You should test it out live, it should be a great choice to buy! smile.gif

As Skewlbuzz said, it depends on the country, and price varies depending on the condition as well. Does it have new tubes in, was it serviced? This will add to the amp's costs too, so that can affect the price too.

The amp is in great condition .. it´s 8 months old .. and has the stock tubes .. oh And there was a mistake from part of the guy who is selling it ... its 900 euro only for head and footswitch(he doesen´t include the cab) ...

Posted by: ZakkWylde May 21 2010, 11:23 PM

My JVM was 1 Year old when I sold it last month, and I sold it for 900 Euros...
They go for 800-900 Euros used and the cab should be arround 300-400 used.

That price is about right, but I would suggest you try to lower down the price a bit, as it would be best to retube it with some decent tubes after you take it. But 900e is a good price, a bigger price would be expensive.

Its lower now the guy makes 960 the head and the cab ...

Great Deal! I sold my JVM410 head alone for 900 and you are getting a great cab with it!

Posted by: ruben_mcn May 27 2010, 09:48 PM

awsome now all i have to do is earn enough money tongue.gif

Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic May 28 2010, 02:18 AM

Another option is too ask him if he wants to sell you on hold or in 2 separate payments, so you don't miss out the deal wink.gif

Posted by: ruben_mcn May 28 2010, 09:51 PM

thanks ivan I´ll try that .. but i doubt that the guy will accept this method

Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic May 29 2010, 03:02 AM

Well OK, I know it's a long shot, but sometimes people accept these deals smile.gif Regardless of that, I hope the deal will go OK. Good luck smile.gif

It never hurts to ask smile.gif Either way it's great piece to have. It's something that you can keep as long as you like and it will hold up and sound nice. Now and then, you may need new tubes but it's really solid, pro level, great sounding head so hard to go wrong.

That is a great deal! Maybe you can offer him up front payment to keep the amp for you until you can give him rest of the money? wink.gif

This is a good idea too. Half money now for holding... that is if you trust the seller biggrin.gif

Hi there ! I hope the deal on the amp works out ok (or has worked out ok) because it really is a brilliant amp. The JVM is my main amp and it's the best I've ever owned !

I've tried Marshalls before but never thought they had enough 'juice' for solos. They had an amazing crunch but not enough fluid gain for legato etc. However this JVM is a different story. No need to add any distortion pedals at all.

The 1960A cab is definitely worth having. It's incredible how different amp heads can sound though different cabs. Previously I'd been using a Valvestate 4x12 cab which is smaller than a standard 4x12.. but the 1960A sounded like a razor wheras the Valvestate cab sounded like a blunt plastic knife in comparison.

You'll definitely enjoy the head and cab !! smile.gif
