I've seen way to few bands live, but:

Porcupine Tree
Cult of Luna
Metallica
Mastodon
Slayer
Candlemass (worst gig ever, I didn't like them before, and I like them even less after seeing them live)
Raised Fist (not a big fan of their music, but man, they are awesome live, pure energy)

And some more at festivals that I really don't care about. (I haven't seen Opeth live yet sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif )

Posted by: Toni Suominen Dec 9 2007, 01:09 AM

Some of the more major acts that I've seen:

-Iron Maiden
-Metallica
-Slayer
-Testament
-Trivium
-Children of Bodom
-Lamb of God
-Thine Eyes Bleed
-In Flames
-Insomnium

Going to see Arch Enemy, Dragonforce and others at the Black Crusade gig in Finland @ 14.12, and I also have tickets to the Iron Maiden gig next year!!

Posted by: DeepRoots Dec 9 2007, 01:10 AM

Hmmmm...for me the ones worth mentioning are:

(In chronological order)

- Still Remains
- Bullet for my Valentine
- Trivium
- Iron Maiden

and last month...

DREAM THEATER!!

Though of them all, i like still remains the least, however trivium put on the worst show (i guess because the were supporting Iron Maiden) and though im obsessed with Dream Theater; i loved the show but Iron Maiden were by far the best of them all.

Though Dream Theater blew me away- go see them on this tour if you can wink.gif

It's one of the very few advantages of being old smile.gif . Some groups I've seen more then once. For instance Nirvana 5 times - 2 times as a support and 3 times as headline. Worst bit is it all starts to blur after a while and I never bought programs or stuff so I often only have a passing memory of a lot of gigs.

Oh my. I don't remember them all and I won't list local and swedish bands you don't know about.

Pink Floyd
Roger Waters
Off the Wall
Chris Hiatt
Kee Marcello
Nazareth
Bob Marley
Alice Cooper
ZZ Top
UFO
Kiss
Thin Lizzy
Motley Crue
Megadeth
AC/DC
Status Quo
Dr Hook
Smokie
BB King
Leningrad Cowboys
Hothouse Flowers
Inner Circle
Bob Dylan
Toto
Robben Ford
Big Country
Breach (the singer made my tattoo actually biggrin.gif )
Meshuggah
Mike And The Mechanics
Millencolin
Soul Asylum

+ an assorted lot of rock and blues artists I have forgot about.

The tops being my first Pink Floyd and the latest Waters earlier this year.
The worst ones where UFO, the bassist was sooo drunk and kept falling of the stage, and ZZ Top. I love them but the concert was boring. Dylan was just plain boring too.

I'm surprised people know about, and have actually seen, bands like Gong, Good Rats and Be Bop Deluxe.

Man I am sure you are an elf! (Only elves are able to see everything GREAT in one lifetime!!!)

Ah It's pointless. I just type something then erase it and then again the same. There simply are no words that can describe what I want to say.
Cheers,
Hristian

P.S. Just saw dogman's list!!!
I am going to burst into tears I haven't lived in your time :/

I guess I cant complain. I think for music wise I grew up at just the right time late 70's early 80's was the era for the rockstar... laugh.gif

I wouldnt change being 13 in 1980 for the world. cool.gif

I think anyone my age has literally seen, done that, been there and were hopefully lucky enough to survive.

Life just isnt the same.

Let me tell you one thing. You could never get away with the things that went on in the early 80's today.

I had a new found respect for my mother and father when my kids were just becoming that age.

If I had to go through what we put our parents through I wouldnt be able to deal with it. They are saints.

Love you mom & pop wink.gif laugh.gif

Eesh. Tough question...there's been do many, I couldn't possibly keep track. I live near Washington, DC so pretty much every band on a major tour ends up here. When I was younger, I'd go to a lot of the summer festival shows and end up seeing 10-15+ bands in a day.

I could go through some highlights (excluding local, small-ish bands that most folks wouldn't know). Probably not going to be able to not explain them though. Here's the easy list, I could probably do more if I spent more time thinking about it.

Everclear (2x..met my wife during their set at a festival show and again later at a county fair laugh.gif )
Foo Fighters (better live than on their albums, I think)
Prodigy (not really a band, but still)
Marilyn Manson (6-7x probably since '93, including multiple shows when John5 was in)
Ozzy solo multiple times and with Sabbath (Ozzfest)
Gravity Kills (I miss them)
The Cult
Gary Numan (2x)
Stabbing Westward (5-6x at least. I miss them a lot)
Depeche Mode (2-3x)
Primus (at least 5x including the last one when the played Sailing the Seas of Cheese as a 2nd set)
Metallica (1996 when they did Lollapalooza)
Soundgarden (3x, I think including one of the last dates of the last tour, I miss them)
Rick Springfield (county fair again...)
Nine Inch Nails (only 3x...longtime fan never had a chance to go before the With Teeth tour)
Pantera (4x or so, starting in 94 til 2000 I think)
Godsmack (opening for Stone Temple Pilots)
Stone Temple Pilots
RHCP (with Dave Navarro)

So true!
I've seen it first in my daughter and now in my son. It's hard to handle, especially since I still, deep inside, is convinced that the world needs rebells. It's so frustrating when they don't listen to "been there, done that". At the same time, if they did, they wouldn't be rebells. Now hearing my daughter (age 22) say "You know what dad? So true, Back then you didnt have to worry about all the wack jobs that are out there today. If something happened to you it was was 9 out of 10 times because you did something stupid to yourself laugh.gif

I am lucky to have seen some of the greatest guitar players of all time in their prime from at least the 3rd row dead center

Ace Frehly 1978 Alive II
Alex Lifeson- 1979 Hemisheres
Jimmy Page- 1980 In Through The Out Door
Randy Rhoads- 1981 Blizzard of Ozz
Ritchie Blackmore- 1982 Rainbow Straight Between the Eyes
George Lynch- 1985 Under Lock & Key
Rik Emmett/Malmsteen- 1986 Sport of Kings
Stevie Ray Vaughn- 1991 Double Trouble

These are just the shows from the 1st to 3rd row where I got to actually shake hands with these guys
(Although Blackmore was kind of a jerk, like he couldnt be bothered by us fans) huh.gif That did bum me out for a long time.

No good bands ever come to the biggest city in the southeast: Atlanta. It is ridiculous and really starting to make me mad because I live kinda close to there. Megadeth came to the southeast and made a huge circle around Georgia, and never touching it; playing concerts in Birmingham, Alabama; Orlando, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. So yea I was pretty mad considering they are one of my favorite bands. My other favorite bands never leave Europe and have been there for like 10 years, Metallica for example.

Anyway even though I live near Atlanta the only good bands that have came and I've seen here in the last 10 years it seems are

Motley Crue
Def Leppard
Styx
Foreigner

They are all hair metal, 80s rock bands, not my favorite, but better than nothing. I'm seeing Van Halen on Feb. 10th though.

They played a good show, because of the lack of recorded material they basically played their debut album from start to finish, this was nice but i felt like it was the studio album with crowd cheering, though i don't know if they still play it, but they played "Just Another Star" from their Hand Of Blood EP which was a surprise, i think they would be better live in month or so when they have the second album of material to play, overall it was good and they made no mistakes.

Yea, I am DEFINATELY going on May 28th, same place obviously. I'm trying to get a job so I can buy the $300 meet and greet package, but if I can't I can at least get premium seating which is like $120 I think. Lol it is Dream Theater, I would probably kill myself if I didn't get premium seats.

Sum 41, Coheed and Cambria, Millencolin, Blindside, The Perishers, Burst, Alexisonfire, Björk, Deftones, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Raised Fist, Flogging Molly, Stonegard, Mastodon, Helmet, System of a Down, Placebo and many more. I'll edit this post when I've remembered some more.

Posted by: Enucleation Mar 17 2008, 08:32 PM

Some of these were supporting acts in the same show.

Nightwish
Paradise Lost (horrible, only saw em' cause they opened for Nightwish)
Metallica
Godsmack
Black Label Society
Sanctity
Mushroomhead
Brand New Sin
The Autumn Offering
Soil
Amon Amarth
Sonic Syndicate (they opened for Amon Amarth I would never go see those screamo nerds)
Korn
Deftones (bad....)
Flyleaf (GAY! they were with Korn)
Stonesour (eh....)

I only saw the last few because I like Korn (SUE ME!) and they toured together.

On yeah, if all goes well, and God willing I'm seeing Megadeth, Bodom, In Flames, High on Fire and Job For A Cowboy(...boo) next month.

I was going to see Def Leppard in a week or two but can you believe they still want 60 to 80 dollars a ticket, that is a lot for a washed up band.

The Melloboat?

Posted by: steiner666 Mar 20 2008, 07:47 PM

Oh man, where to start... I guess it would make sense to start with the most impressive performers!

Arch Enemy (3 times.. if you EVER get a chance to see this band DO IT. Their performances are always perfection as far as guitar goes, and their live sound is so clear and perfect, unlike some other bands on the list)
Opeth (twice until next month... when you see these guys, you get a great metal show as well as some stand up comedy and trivia... they really are a complete package, lol)
Chimaira (twice, these guys are my boys, represent!)
Children of Bodom (they're just pure energy!)
Devildriver (twice)
Rammstein
Nile
Behemoth
Dimmu Borgir (are incredible, but need to fire their sound guys)
Megadeth
Crossbreed
Dark Tranquility
Machine Head
Strapping Young Lad/Devin Townsend Band
Lamb of God
God Forbid
Ozzy
Through the Eyes of the Dead
Godhead
Static-X
Lordi (lol, BAD)

There's been others, of course, but if I can't remember them, they must not be that great.

And the band that I want to see live more than any other band is... Spiritual Beggars... or maybe Carcass! Here's hoping they tour north america sometime... together!

Megadeth
Children of Bodom
In Flames

Opeth
Dream Theater
Between the Buried and Me (again)
Powerglove

There used to be a big festival here in town each summer for 3 days that would have all sorts of bands and it ALWAYS coincided with then last weekend of the spring semester for college, so we would sell our books back and then buy tickets/booze for the weekend, which is how I got to see a LOT of these ridiculous bands. When nothing was going on I would go make highschool football players who thought they were hot stuff feel inadequate in the mosh pit of the "rock" stage, and you can apparently really upset Strokes fans by moshing during their show, we had one thick rimmed glasses wearer almost in tears because the "Strokes hate mosh pits". There are lots more bands than that, but I can't think of them. I wish it were a quality vs. quantity scenario but clearly that is not the case LOL.

I had the chance to see Eric Clapton's Crossroads concert this year....just awesome! ZZ Top, Keith Richards, Jeff Beck, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, and more. BB King couldn't stop talking to play.

I probably see Buddy Guy play at his bar several times a year. Last year I went one afternoon and just sat with him at the bar and picked his brain for a while...
