GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ The Best Gift Ever

Posted by: ChrisVdS Apr 4 2009, 11:28 AM

Hey guys,

I just got the best gift ever my dad gave me a Fender Stratocaster made in USA it's not new it was his but he never used it well not more then a few months.

It's a california series launched something about ten years ago it is a vintage guitar and the stock pickups will defenatly get replaced when i replaced the pickguard a few weeks ago since the white turned into yellow brown and i did not like it i replaced it with a white pearloid pickguard and when it was uncovered i noticed that the routing at the bridge is for a humbucker aswell so i will order a nice set from Bare knuckle pickups and i'm thinking about the Irish tour and Nailbomb HSS set for a good bluesy sound and get a new pickguard aswell ofcourse.

What i also replaced for my dad was the neck plate it was a chrome plate with noting on it so i also replaced it with a new one that has the fender logo on it and corona california below that i think it is the standard neckplate for USA made stratocasters these days.

In the future i will also order a replacement neck because the glossy vintage finish makes it kinda feel sticky if you know what i mean and the small vintage frets are not my favourite. So i will order a 2008 or 2009 American standard strat neck in a few months.

I could never dreamed of a better gift then a great guitar that will be even better in the future.

I need to make preperations for tonights party

Keep on rocking guys

Chris

Oh yeah he also gave me a ticket to go see George Thorogood & the destroyers it is a good day smile.gif

Are the Holy divers the ones to get the 80's rock / metal sound?

I would love to see him play "One bourbon, one scotch, one beer" live.

It's one of my favorite all time songs. "...And she was sooo nice.... Lord, she was lovey dovey"

Holy Divers are the bareknucke pickups that are perfect for 80 Rock and Metal (they are named after the DIO song!)
You can get perfect Van Halen/George Lynch style tones from it, it's great for Hair Metal and gives you spot on the Iron Maiden tone - But as it is a custompickup, it can literally do everything from blues to Deathmetal - The Holydiver is just the best for 80's metal

They are incredibly warm sounding, too warm for a Les Paul but perfect for the bright tone of a stratocaster!!!
They also have the best clean tones of all high-output bareknuckles and the best lead tone of all BKPs!

Thx for the advice i have heard a sample of them when someone used a holy diver in a strat and the dude was playing warpigs from black sabbath i think and it sounded very sweet, i will check them out and go for your advice i love 80's hard rock and metal in my opinion best metal was made in the 80's.
