You should make some kind of a transition. I recommend you make several and see what works best, there is no way telling what could work until you try it. Writing breaks and fills is just as important as anything else, it adds to the flow, so it's a matter of skill. The more you do it, better it will be. Listening how the good bands do it can help here for new ideas.

This is an often problem when composing. Its kinda easy to go from low to high (intensity) part but not vise versa. Drum fills will do a lot and possibly some drum brake parts (drums only etc). Also try to lower guitars in intensity and dynamics as you approach the point where you want to go back to the mellow part. Writing a bridge part that will gradually lower dynamics of the part to prearrange it for "dropping" will help a lot. Just experiment, it can be a matter of only one bar to get things back on track. You could also listen to a famous similar song and see what they did in a similar situation...
