Hey guys,

I need you help with some stuff, pls everyone's input is more than welcome.
I sweat alot while playing guitar, and my neck gets pretty darn dirty, very quickly, sweat deposits everywhere etc unsure.gif blink.gif

What would be helpfull to get rid off all the dirt that gets accumulated after a long jam session?
Another thing, is wd40 ok for cleaning up your guitar?
And for polish etc can anyone recommend something good, i wanted to buy a complete maintenace kit.

Thanks all of you in advance.

Well i've never read anything bad about it but i would never put wd40 on my guitar. There are many types of guitar polish and neck cleaning kits out there but the only kind I have ever used is lizard spit and its worked pretty good for me.

Sa far as cleaning the neck, I use a product that was recomended by members here called Fast Fret. Works great!

As said above, WD could hurt the electronics in your guitar if not carefu. Lot's of polishes on the market. Even a good carnauba wax. smile.gif

Well I use plain ol' watter and wipe it off with a soft clean cloth just after. It works here.

I do that on every strings change:

Rub the fretboard with a toothbrush until the dirt is all bring out.
Clean up the fretboard with methylated spirits.
Then put on the fret board a little lemon oil to feed and protect the wood,
wait until the oil is absorb and then dry out the oil excess.
Obvious...re-string the guitar... tongue.gif

After any session I just polish the strings with a normal cleaning cloth, this also preserve the strings from a rapid oxidation.

For me : when my strings are getting al dirty/sweat/<rusty?!?!> i use fast fret all over the strings, wait a bit, then use the swipe to take it off.

Works wonders smile.gif I suggest you buy them, cheap stuff too.

Hey Danilo, nice tips man. Can you tell me where you usually get the lemon oil. Can it be bought in pharmacy or something ?

For the body/neck i just use a damp cloth.

For the strings I use fast fret (works awesome, help string corrosion from the oils on your fingers too). You should do this everytime after you play....but I don't know anyone that does haha

For the fret board, I use Dunlop lemon oil (not for maple necks). When you change the strings, just oil the fretboard and scrub clean with a cloth. The dirt will come off with the oil, wipe the excess oil off and your done. It helps the fretboard stay clean after too (not to mention smells nice).
