Original lesson: Writing a Solo - Dynamics by Muris Varajic

Getting varied dynamics from an amp setting that uses lots of gain can be tricky. Raking the strings gives a nice stronger attack, and the for the quiet stuff, I guess about the only thing you can do is pick as softly as possible. On this take I could have probably gotten away with less gain (for more dynamics) but I wanted to get that singing sustain that you get with lots of saturation.

Original lesson: Robben Ford Style Blues by Emir Hot

I liked the "stop and go" of this style. It seemed hard at first but after getting into it a bit, it made sense.

Original lesson: In the style of Gary Moore - Ballad & Blues by Piotr Kaczor

Here's my take of Piotr's wonderful lesson in the style of Gary Moore. It's tougher than it looks and a great chance to work on vibrato and string bending. The toughest part for me was the 2nd half. Just getting the feel for the different time signature there was tricky. You have to get passionate about it when you're doing the repeated bends through there. I hope I was close to getting the feeling through those parts...

Original lesson: Ballad & Blues II by Piotr Kaczor

Happy new year everyone! I had some extra time this week to put this REC take together. We're kind of snowed in here in northern Nevada so I'm getting a good start on the new year with lots of guitar practice. I'm really loving the modern blues these days. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this take. See you in the forums.

Original lesson: David Gilmour Style Lesson by David Wallimann

Another easier tune for me to practice playing soulfull vibrato and blues. It's amazing how much mileage you can get out of a minor pentatonic scale, and lots of bending. :) The great way to get a David Gilmore tone? ... Use a Strat!. It's surprising how little gain you have to use. For this tone, the amp (sim) was right on the edge of clean and breakup. Master volume set very loud.
