Hey Guys,

If you remember, I asked about getting a new Audio Interface sometime ago and I finally got a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. Thank you all for helping me choose one. It was new but wasn't in stock but I took the risk, hence it took a long time to land on my hands. smile.gif So far, I am having blast of a time. Its pretty good and seems to sound better than my old Mbox 2 Pro. It only has 2 channel input at a time and I wanted to record a full band live with more channels. Here is the unboxing video and a little bit of recording test my band did. Since it seems to sound better, I thought I would share here and hope it might help anyone who is trying to buy a new interface.

Thanks for checking and let me know what you think.
Chandra

Nice!! That's a killer interface. Two channels at a shot makes it perfect for home recording. If you are thinking of recording wads of inputs at once, there are some other options. For example, the tascam unit can do 8 xlr inputs at once to different tracks in your daw. Only $300 U.S.

The preamps are not amazing, but for live work they are adequate. You can put it in a rack, move it back and forth to practice/shows and not have to worry too much about it.

Todd

Yep Todd, this also has 8 XLR inputs at once and there were very good reviews on its smaller Scarlett units, though this one was $500. Its a real beauty as well. smile.gif

Awesome! smile.gif I misread your post a bit when you said "it" has 2 inputs at a time I thought you meant this new one not your old one. 8 live inputs is killer smile.gif Can it record each one to a separate track in your daw at the same time?

Todd

Yep Todd. It also has 2 direct headphones out (no latency) and then the Foucusrite MixControl lets each band member hear their own mixes while recording. I haven't use this yet though. Need headphones now. smile.gif

This is the song I recorded on Saturday. Its in our own language so you probably won't understand. Recorded on 4 different channels and mixed. Remember, I am not a pro..just fiddle around a bit. smile.gif

will be recording more often with this unit now. We did notice clarity on the tone though. smile.gif

Nice!!! Great tone, great separation of tracks, transparent sound, just all over spiff!!!

That interface has earned it's great rep for a reason. In that price is tough to beat. Especially for the input count.

Todd
