Hows everyone doing today.

I'm really honestly not happy with this at all, but I did this in one take, for a reason, because improv's are not usually *perfect, but alot better than this.. And In real life I cant say to a person 10 times, "can we restart or do this again."

Anyways, I've been playing for a little under 10 months, I love improvising, and I love music, I always get crap with my family members for how I can play guitar for 3 hours in a row or whatever, but I like It so much that there is nothing at that time I would rather be doing. (They really dont like what I play, I always here my mom saying, why cant he just play normal music, Kinda a downer but gives me more drive. She wants to hear Howie Day - Collide and all the acoustic stuff, thats great but, I'm honestly not that inspired by it, But I learn it for my mum anyway smile.gif. And off that topic.

I'm really just trying to get better, faster.. So i'm just looking for advice, please be as critical as you want, just don't hold back.

I'll admit, it was a pretty slow tempo, just a tad slower that I'm fully comfortable with, So it was a hard adjustment, and If anyone wants the backing track just pm me, or ask for it on here.

Thanks everyone!!

ohmy.gif For someone whos only been playing for a little under 10 months I think this is incredibly good! I dont understand why your unhappy with it? your progress in this time is phenominal I`m kinda speechless to be honest, I`m never ever happy with anything I record when I listen back to it, but seriously this is very good, just keep practicing the way you are, your obviously heading in the right direction, and your speed will just get better the more you practice.

Awesome m8! cool.gif

I donno, my improvs without recording are alot better, well i guess they seem to be, I just freak out when I hit that little red recording button, and mess up alot more!

But.. I dont know, i never get reginition from anyone in my family for my guitar playing, so Its hard to know where I'm at, like some of my friends say they got so much better, But they still are not much better ( Dont tell them this of course!)

I didn't mean speed as in finger speed! But that comes with time anyways.

But thanks man for your kind words! tongue.gif

I do understand the "red button" syndrome, I suffer quite bad with that.

Hey Tjchep, only playing 10 months and you're this good!!!

I've been playing, (more likely messing around), for a lot longer than you and I'm quite envious of your obvious skill. I can understand your frustration at your family's lack of enthusiasm but take it from me any musician will apprieciate good music whatever the style. Ok it may not be to their taste but we can't please everyone.

As for red button syndrome you're not alone in that regard. The number of retakes I've done thank goodness I've got my pc to record to and not using up studio time ... I'd be broke! lol

Keep up the hard work you've put in you're gonna go far smile.gif

As the other people said, based on how short a time you've been playing this is great!
Keep up the good work.

NIce effort man rally. My guess based on experience with beginners is that you play a little more than 10 months but hey, take that as a compliment would ya wink.gif. And now for the bad part smile.gif

AS far as playing, it is good, lot of pinched harmonics, good vibrato and deacent drive sound. You should put your guitar on top of the backings, not the other way around. FOr me, playing blues progressions involves more smoothness then here. You sound somewhat tensed when played this, and that I personaly don`t like. I DO like your rhythm, and think you have a deacnet rhytmic playing, but not very melodic. Try working on your scales more and LEARN where tho strong notes are and where to end your phrases. ALso, if you DO bend your strings, you must wathc for the notes you bend. On what note you are bending? Do you know what is the bended note and does it fit in your chord progression and how. You shouldn bend he notes just to have them bend - know why you bend them, how much, where and why. Your use of pinched harmonics is great here, you really added some flavor in the solo with them, and did some muting with your right and raking - that I like, but try to use that more efectively. For example only there where you really feel the need for it, not to often. SOme of your triplet repeating exercieses can be found here as well. THey are good, but not solid and in flow with a solo. THey seemd "glued on". You must add them to the solo more fluidly and to follow melody with it. So thats for now, I hope you find good advices here to become better in your playing man - and keep rockin smile.gif

Thanks man. Nah.. I just looked at my receipt from guitar center got it Febuary 28th.. (Just to make sure I was not making up somthing smile.gif I hate when people say they play less than they really have.

I noticed I had a terrible mix when I did this, and I deleted the original master track (Cause I'm an idiot ((Used a tone port Ux1 btw, decent hardware.))

So I could'nt boost up the guitar volume.

About the pinched harmonics, I do that when I'm tense, exactly as you said, ( I always have to tell myself to relax when I record and improv, Because, it is right off the top of your head for the most part) I messed up ALOT after listening to it too, but I forced myself not to retake..

That triplet run was defiantly just time for me to think of where I wanted to go, and I was constantly messing up before that, First thing that came to my mind really, Its defiantly just, bad, and totally misplaced.

It wasent my rhythm, Just some backing track found on the net, of course its not gonna be melodic.

Thanks a bunch man, I'll be uploading many more improvs so I can track my improvment probably one a month or so. I'm happy that you could give a straight up oppinoin of what you thought of my track, It is what I was waiting from someone. I really value what you had to say.

Congratulations for the improvement smile.gif

And as Ivan said, just put the guitar on top of the mix, don't let the background eat your lead wink.gif

one tip when mixing, when you set all levels, go to another room and listen if you will hear the lead wink.gif

Thanks.

I meant improv as in, Improvisation smile.gif.

Yeah, I think I still knew what I had played after I finished it so I could still hear it, clearer than normally, Just didnt click.

I'll keep that in mind thought.

Thanks!
