Hi guys!
I remember hearing about some type of guitar that included some type of soundcard that would create midi type sounds..
I remember even reading a post about it here on GMC..
I just can't remember the name of it nor find the thread..

Does that ring a bell to anyone?

Not sure what that guitar is mate. Do you mean guitar with integrated synth module or just pickups?

No, it was another thread.. Way older, more than a year ago...
It was not for midi pickups, but for an integrated converter kin of like the midi flys have...
Oh well... I'll bump into it I'm sure...

I was lookin' at Brian Moore guitars the other day, maybe one of his? They have both USB and RCF and can be connected with Rolands MIDI interface for guitar synths...

Thanks guys, but no..
It was something else..
The device didn't have a midi out..
It had an onboard soundcard that made the conversion to whichever midi sounds you put on the card...

The video on the graphtech site is extremely compelling. Watch specifically the part where instead of mapping different banks for different strings, it is ALSO able to choose banks based on where the right hand is picking!

Hmm, I think it's the same as in the Brian Moore guitars, on the list of manufactorers who use's graphtech BM is included... The technique is however interesting, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities. It will let You transcribe easily, compose, interact with a computer from the guitar and more, even if not used for "live" purposes. I shall try to get my hands on one of those for sure!

I will get in near future GK3 pickup and another guitar to mount it on so that I can use Roland GR20. I will use it for live performances and perhaps do some lessons with it as well smile.gif

Some lessons on the GR20 would be really cool.

I am keen to explore the possibilities too.

There is an interface from Roland called GI-20 which just does the guitar to MIDI conversion, although the reports I read said it was not tracking as good as Axon on the low notes. I dont really know the difference in price between Graphtech's system and Roland GK-3, but as far as I can understand is GraphTech faster since it's built on piezo-technology. Another interesting system is the Roland Roland VG-8 and VG-88, which enables amp and guitar modelling from piezo-mics. (12-string, acoustic, different electrics...) You can even use other tunings without retune the guitar(!). Just some thoughts.... smile.gif
