I think that the story to this is this radio producer, who was a Vai suporter, told Steve to write an hours worth of music so he could preforme it live with the metropole orchestra.

When he did it Vai loved the sound and that is how he got his orchestra-y sound. tongue.gif

I also know that when he was a kid he wanted to be a composer. laugh.gif

I just noticed something about this video. the main riff of the song, the first thing he plays in the original recording, he only plays it once. but the rest you can still tell that it is For The Love Of God because of the tone.
