This last year has been full of ups and downs. I tried getting a band together and acquired a ridiculous sound system only to have it play Pandora while I work as the band didn't work out. I have also taken various lessons here and home and worked with Todd on my technique. I guess I'm not sure where to go at this point, what's the point? What kind of music do I even like? What kind of music do I want to play? Do I continue building chops or focus on writing my own music?

There are a lot of questions and quite honestly I have no idea. For the first time in history the whole thing just seems blah..

We are in the middle of moving and I hope that the detached garage can sustain the sound system and Drumset. I'd love to have a small studio at my house. I'm not sure the garage is adequately heated and insulated for such equipment but with time hopefully I can do some remodeling and get the space I need..

Anyways I just wanted to say that I am back around but in a more zombie like state. Take care Guys see you around!

Welcome back mate!

We, the musicians, have lots of questions of all the time. It happens to me and the best way to answer them is making music. It can sound like too philosophic, but after all, we are here because we love the sounds that we can get when playing our instrument, so maybe instead of searching for answers, the best would be to search for new sounds, combinations of notes, and rhythms... the answers will come with them.

I'm here to help you with your guitar plan so feel free to contact me if you need anything. wink.gif

Welcome back mate.

We all go through those "what's the point" moments but the thing that got you into guitar will pull you back time and time again.

See you around

Phil

Thanks Bleez, I'm glad you enjoyed my playing and it's nice to get positive feedback. I will never let it go... Never but honestly I've never felt so unmotivated to play. Our mother in law moved in and she has taken my jam space so I'm sure that is not helping.

The band was sort of me trying to push people along and maybe that had a part in it. I did not feel like the other members tried any practice after practice and that was very frustrating. Hopefully I can meet more people or an established band.

Hi gab! Nice to know I got some support here. That's a big reason why this site is worth every penny. Lots of bang! Your right about new sounds and maybe narrowing in on something new and appropriate is going to fill my next round of "music."
I'd have to say that I'm listening to many different styles and it seems that I listen to music by how I feel. If I'm trying to relax or I'm stressed then I'm listening to Pop Country! Crazy right? That's crazy to me. I'll admit that some country song make me cry or choke up. I'm not joking I feel like I must be about to have s nervous breakdown or something. I don't and have never played any country inspired anything and up until now I have condemned it, I still kinda do lol. But I love some of the country guitar solos, the tone and choice are interesting. I'm also into rap/hip hop and Animals as Leaders. Lastly is Snarky Puppy. All of these I mentioned are not part of any music practice. So that's a sign of a good place to start huh?

Hey Phil, thanks! My reason for playing guitar started by hearing
And others but this was where I wanted to go. To this day I think that I have never learned a van halen solo. Wtf that's truth there. Pantera to malmsteen big influences but never learned anything by them. Seems I've got a dilemma. Here is what really moves me musically today this is so good to me and I have no idea where to start learning this.

I'll get my mojo back, just talking about it is motivation enough to do something. Thanks!
