I figured out that my body functions in the following way:
In the morning, my head and ears are very, very clear and my hands are quite numb - it's frustrating to be able to hear a lot of interesting ideas in your head and not to be able to play them at full potential - and in the evening, my physical abilities are boosted and my hands are very loose and relaxed, but I don't have that much focus power left.
This is the reason why I split my daily playing time into chunks, based on what my body is able to do at these particular times of the day. (during the weekdays I get to play early in the morning and in the evening)
How does your body work for you? What time of the day is best for you in order to be able to function at full power?
Very interesting points Cosmin, and something I've also niticed myself.
Our bodies need time to really wake up.. circulation, tight muscles from sleep etc.. not only that but we need to get some fuel into our bodies too.. and then it takes time for that to start working too !
So I'd say by mid morning my body is more likely to be able to handle the requirements I might put it through. But generally,I feel a lot more looser in the evening
I practice at the worst time.. at the very end of the day, when i'm dead tired and yawning.
When I have good concentration/ energy level (during the early part of the day) and feel like I can really make some progress on the guitar.... well... I'm at work.
Well, I'm generally a night person. I always tend to study before I go to bed. I also mostly practice in the evening hours.
Though, I'm much more concentrated in the morning hours I guess.
I should try to change the routine.
Interesting topic - I am definitely a night person. However that's quite hard to be when you have a kid who wakes up at 06 in the morning - so I am trying to change my habits with varying results.
That's an interesting observation. I like working on projects and internet when I wake up, with some coffee, it's a habit for me, and I feel most focused for PC work then. In the evening I have most patience for practice.
I like practicing in the afternoon. I'm good then.
I'm an owl too, but when it comes to guitar and playing loud, I usually play in the afternoon. In the night I'm usually too tired to do anything other than watch TV, gaming or reading a while
I tend to practice both morning and evening, but the morning practice is much more focused, and usually longer, than the evening. Also, which guitars I use vary. In the morning I play my electrics, but in the evening I switch to accoustic. For me at least, playing accoustic stuff in the evening helps me to relax.
afternoon - playing song improvisation! and practice
on vacations i usually start to shred from 4am till 9am
Between 10pm-12am Where shredding happens
