Hi guys! Motivation is the key to wake up every day and decide to dedicated 2, 3, 4 or more hours to practising, learning and composing music. I find motivation in many different ways: Going to live shows, reading biographies, reading magazines, listening to albums, watching live dvds or clinics, playing with my band, talking with other musicians and many other things. I remember seeing a live GN'R show (live in Paris) every day when I was a child, that video was my motivation when I was a beginner.... nowadays every time that I see Steve Vai playing or philosophizing about music I get motivation! the same happens to me with many other musicians and bands...

What keeps you motivated?

I've seen the G3 in Budapest, and shed a few tears when I was 19 years old, listening to ''Whispering a prayer'', when Steve dedicated the song to his wife and youngest son who were in the audience.

Motivation comes from listening to music, walking on the street on a sunny day, seeing people smile, sharing a beautiful moment with someone I deeply care about, performing for an awesome audience and a lot more little things who would seem insignificant at first, but if you come to think of it, it's the little things that make a difference, isn't it?

For instance, i was listening to Andy Timmons yesterday and I suddenly felt an urge to dance around the house and then of course...play the guitar biggrin.gif it's simple, isn't it?

Knowing your limits and not over-doing it, haha.

My biggest motivations come from seeing intense live shows, friends bands, and the whimper of my practice amp.

That is awesome topic Gab, and you mentioned most of the important motivators there! smile.gif It's always good to go to some cool concert, watch some concerts or clinics at home etc.

The thing that always gets me most motivated for doing music is playing a big live show, where the audience appreciates it. It really makes me hungry for more, and usually these shows are what keeps me going as it turned out over the years. Just as these big shows can get me going, really bad ones have contrary effect, stay in memory and leave the bitter taste, but the motivation from a good show lasts the longest IMHO.
