17:39:18 Oblivion:
17:39:23 Oblivion: hi
17:39:23 Kristofer Dahl: SO what are you currently playing?
17:39:28 Kristofer Dahl: Hey threre!
17:39:30 Oblivion: im playing a jackson
17:39:43 Kristofer Dahl: That's cool which model?
17:39:51 Oblivion: i realy dont know
17:39:58 CrashOops: oops I forgot to log out before I left
17:40:12 Kristofer Dahl: Well it doesn't matter...does it look cool?
17:40:15 Kristofer Dahl:
17:40:30 Oblivion: yah
17:40:45 Oblivion: hay i sent u a message u probly havnt read it
17:41:03 Oblivion: but i wanted to know wat equiptment is good just to start out with
17:41:05 Kristofer Dahl: So have you guys been thinking about attending one of the "scheduled chats"?
17:41:15 Kristofer Dahl: andrew or Pavel?
17:41:15 Suib: i havnt heard about them
17:41:19 Suib: wht are they
17:41:25 CrashOops: I was meaning to today but I wasnt able to stay online
17:41:35 Kristofer Dahl: Check out the main forum board
17:41:43 Suib: ok
17:41:45 Kristofer Dahl: They announce the time in there
17:41:52 Oblivion: cool
17:41:54 Suib: i havnt been on a lot latly with school and stuff
17:42:08 Suib: *lately
17:42:30 Kristofer Dahl: Btw my computer is killing me I have to carry it all around the room to maintain the internet connection
17:42:30 CrashOops: it was today about 3 hours ago wasnt it. or atleast one of them?
17:42:47 Suib: thts wierd
17:42:56 Kristofer Dahl: Was it today?
17:42:56 Suib: cnt stay in one spot?
17:43:02 Oblivion: hay kristofer wat would be good equiptment to start out iwth i alredy have an amp and guitar
17:43:15 Kristofer Dahl: Reharding the connection: it's a poor wireless network I am thriving on!
17:43:21 CrashOops: I thought tuesday at2100 gmt + 1
17:43:33 Kristofer Dahl: regarding equipment
17:44:01 Kristofer Dahl: it's avery very difficult thing to say something general about
17:44:08 Kristofer Dahl: basically,
17:44:32 Kristofer Dahl: anything that isn't the absolute cheapest alternative will be good to start with
17:44:43 Oblivion: thx
17:44:45 CrashOops: Well I think that if your starting out. anything that keeps tune and still sounds reasonably good enough for you to keep playing it
17:44:53 Kristofer Dahl: onyes exactly
17:45:01 CrashOops: I have an 80$ cad guitar. probably the worst chinese thing you can buy
17:45:09 CrashOops: but it's enough to make me want to play. and save for a new guitar
17:45:17 Oblivion: lol
17:45:21 CrashOops: it keeps tune and doesnt sound too bad with a distortion pedal
17:45:27 Suib: i use a laurel guitar which is junk, but its a cheap lefty brand
17:45:32 Kristofer Dahl: then - when you have developed your taste enough to have preferences of your own - only you will be able to answer this question
17:46:01 CrashOops: I'm looking at about an 500 - 800$ guitar next. more than likely ibanez because they feel so good in the hands
17:46:09 Oblivion: hay is it true that when u use the wammy bar ur guitar gets out of tune easyer
17:46:18 Suib: yeah
17:46:28 Kristofer Dahl: Ibanez offer very price-worthy guitars at a low cost, undoubtly
17:46:35 Kristofer Dahl: so i can recommend them
17:46:53 Kristofer Dahl: Oblivion: yes absolutely
17:46:56 CrashOops: I've played a number of different ones in the pricerange I'm looking at and loved them all. and sound so good
17:47:09 Oblivion: ok yah so is it better to do vibrato or bend
17:47:21 Suib: depends
17:47:25 CrashOops: I would think that would depend on the effect your going for
17:47:37 Suib: on your style
17:47:38 Kristofer Dahl: agreed
17:47:43 Oblivion: cool
17:48:12 CrashOops: Kris what happened to the general chat?
17:48:46 Kristofer Dahl: I like using the vibrato arm - but most guitar wont hold the tuning
17:48:58 Kristofer Dahl: which is annoying..
17:49:06 Kristofer Dahl: CrashOops what do you mean?
17:49:18 CrashOops: well there was a guitar chat room and a general chat room was there not?
17:49:35 CrashOops: or did you remove the general chat room because no one was in it
17:49:43 Suib:
17:49:50 Kristofer Dahl: Ah yes we removed them because of the low activity in here - two rooms werent needed
17:49:56 Kristofer Dahl: exactly
17:49:59 CrashOops: I figured so
17:50:13 Oblivion: so ther arnt very many peaple who live chat
17:50:28 Kristofer Dahl: it would be cool if we could have more daily activiy in here
17:50:39 CrashOops: well the gmc chat hasnt exactly been around fo rtoo long. it may take a little while for it to gain popularity
17:50:52 Kristofer Dahl: Yes I think so too
17:50:55 CrashOops: I for one cant use it very often because I live in western canada ( gmt-8)
17:51:11 Suib: yeah the time zones are a factor too
17:51:14 CrashOops: day off today though
17:51:35 Kristofer Dahl: yes that is also a problem the time zones
17:51:54 Kristofer Dahl: Guest: You need to login to type..
17:51:56 Oblivion: yah but immagen how crowded it would be if evry 1 had the same time zone
17:52:10 Kristofer Dahl: yes!
17:52:19 Suib: well you can make new rooms so it wouldnt be quite that bad
17:52:20 CrashOops: So Kristofer, Ends up I dont have to buy the DD3 delay pedal afterall. my G/f is goign to get it for me for my bday. do you think that's the best one to get or no?
17:52:29 Kristofer Dahl: We could set a fixed time where we ask as many people as possible to attend
17:52:34 Kristofer Dahl: ...and see what happens
17:52:47 Kristofer Dahl: hehe
17:53:02 Oblivion: that would maby work
17:53:09 Kristofer Dahl: Well actually I dont know to much about the different delay brands
17:53:35 Kristofer Dahl: I have only had digital delays
17:53:38 CrashOops: All I have is the boss ds1 and hopefully this delay pedal. seems to be the one recommended in the forums the most
17:53:44 Suib: whats a delay pedal?... i dont know a lot about the equipment parts yet.
17:53:49 Suib:
17:54:01 Kristofer Dahl: But I assume that most pedals that specifically do delay are good
17:54:01 Oblivion: same here
17:54:08 CrashOops: thanks
17:54:25 CrashOops: I cant really give a good explanation of the delay pedal effect
17:54:28 Kristofer Dahl: I use my amps delay
17:54:31 CrashOops: it more or less repeats it I guess.
17:54:44 Kristofer Dahl: ...which actuaööy is pretty bad
17:54:50 Kristofer Dahl: actuaLLy
17:55:13 Kristofer Dahl: but it works since I am mainly using it for a very subtle effect
17:55:37 Kristofer Dahl: not like David O lesson in other words
17:55:39 CrashOops: ah. yes you were saying you used it to fill out your sound a bit more. would you just have it on a very fast tempo so you dont neccesarily notice it as much?
17:55:51 Kristofer Dahl: yes exactly
17:55:53 CrashOops: I havent played with one yet
17:55:59 Kristofer Dahl: and not many repetitions
17:56:04 CrashOops: ah ok
17:56:06 Oblivion: dam that sucks instead of starting school agian on aguest 28 i have to go next week since im starting a early colledge high school
17:56:19 Suib: ah
17:56:24 Suib: tht sux
17:56:32 CrashOops: education is the best thing you can get though
17:56:32 Oblivion: yah less time devoted to guitar
17:56:52 Oblivion: its 1 thing with education and another with guitar
17:57:04 CrashOops: my last two years of highschool I took a first year college trades course. I dont work in the trade anymore but it's the best thing I ever did
17:57:12 Kristofer Dahl: CrashOops so did you and your grilfriend agree on the priority?
17:57:31 CrashOops: lol apparently seeing as she's buying me the pedal for my birthday so I can get her something pretty for our 6 month lol
17:57:43 Suib: lol
17:57:46 Kristofer Dahl: sounds like an agreement
17:57:50 Kristofer Dahl:
17:57:52 CrashOops: yeah pretty much
17:57:59 CrashOops: now I just have to convince her I need a new guitar
17:58:05 Oblivion: yah but im attending early colledge high school so when i graduat i will have 78 colledge hours
17:58:31 Kristofer Dahl: thats funny - because my girlfrien is the one who is trying to convince me I need to buy more gear
17:58:39 CrashOops: that's good for you oblivion. any step ahead is worth it. I wish I went back to college after school
17:58:45 Suib: Alright, im gonna go.
17:58:48 Kristofer Dahl: which result in my buying more than I can afford...
17:58:54 Oblivion: ok cya Suib
17:58:57 Suib: later
17:59:00 Kristofer Dahl: at times at least I am easily convinced
17:59:00 CrashOops: yeah but you see Kris your good at it. I just started playing again
17:59:27 Kristofer Dahl: you are right
17:59:31 CrashOops: I have to convince myself not to buy more than I can afford. I have about 3 cards racked up because I like my toys
17:59:40 Oblivion: yah ive only been playing for 3 years but i still dont think ive learnd anything major
17:59:49 CrashOops: the indash in my car is worth more than the car itself
17:59:56 CrashOops: and that doesnt even begin with the amp or speakers in there
17:59:59 Kristofer Dahl: and I do believe you should save your money and practice - that has always been my philosphy
18:00:23 Kristofer Dahl: Oblivion how much do you practice on a regular basis?
18:00:36 Oblivion: lol more then an hour
18:00:43 CrashOops: yes. why not get to the point where you can take advantage of nicer equipment. a 4000$ guitar is still going to sound as lousy as your 200$ guitar if you cant play it
18:00:43 Oblivion: i just like to play
18:01:08 Kristofer Dahl: CrashOops I agree
18:01:14 Oblivion: yah thats true
18:01:19 Kristofer Dahl: Oblivion then you should notice progress?
18:01:35 Oblivion: well i have
18:02:03 Kristofer Dahl: To notice major progress you also need to do major practicing
18:02:07 Oblivion: but i dont realy know all the major stuff befor i found out about this site all i realy did was play other stuff just getting the guitar tabs
18:02:37 Kristofer Dahl: Ah yes I have been there too
18:02:48 CrashOops: I find I really need to work on practicing seriously. I play for about an hour or two whenever I can. but I dont actually sit down with a metronome and work on that part of it. although I know I really should
18:03:18 Oblivion: i still need to buy a metronome it would realy help wouldnt it
18:03:28 CrashOops: there are a number of free online ones
18:03:29 Kristofer Dahl: it is a matter of realising that the real "treshold experience" will not come until you literally torture yourself with practice
18:03:39 Kristofer Dahl: sounds horrible I know but that's the key
18:03:52 Kristofer Dahl: Welcome Slammer
18:04:05 Oblivion: cool more peaple
18:04:11 CrashOops: I complteley understand what you mean. I used to play piano when I was a kid so I know all about torturing practice
18:04:16 Scott Gentzen: Whoa. Full house.
18:04:20 Kristofer Dahl: hey Scott!
18:04:24 Scott Gentzen: howdy
18:04:31 CrashOops: hi
18:05:14 CrashOops: cant believe I lost my adapter for my headphones to amp
18:05:26 CrashOops: I used to have like a half dozen of them where did they all go!
18:05:48 Scott Gentzen: The more I try to use online/computer-based metronomes, the more I wish I had a standalone one. Or my tuner had one
18:05:52 Kristofer Dahl: Sorry my internet connection
18:05:57 Slammer: hmm I can't see anything??????
18:06:16 Kristofer Dahl: Slammer what do you mean?
18:06:16 CrashOops: I have a Korg metronome. I think it was about 30$ canadian
18:06:23 Slammer: something must be wrong with my PC
18:06:31 CrashOops: from what I can tell in the video it's the same one Kris has
18:06:37 Kristofer Dahl: or with your eyes
18:06:50 Oblivion: i need to get beter at my pull offs
18:07:06 Scott Gentzen: That's about what I paid for my Korg tuner. I've just been too lazy to go over there and get one. GC makes my head hurt sometimes
18:07:19 CrashOops: really? my Korg tuner was 20$ tops
18:07:34 Oblivion: well i might be on later i think im gana go buy myself a wammy bar cya
18:07:38 Kristofer Dahl: Another way to make metronome practcing more interesting is to use a drum machine
18:07:41 CrashOops: oh I go to Tom Lee's music. but I think that's more of a canadian chain
18:07:43 Scott Gentzen: Something like that. $US though.
18:07:49 Kristofer Dahl: gives you more of a band feeling...
18:07:51 Scott Gentzen: I have a drum machine
18:07:53 CrashOops: alright see you oblivion
18:07:56 Oblivion: bye
18:08:03 Kristofer Dahl: see you
18:08:21 Scott Gentzen: well, sorta. Much more comfortable with that than the soft metronomes
18:08:25 CrashOops: I tried a couple freeware drum machines just for fun. I dunno have to actually want to practice timing for it to do anything though
18:08:37 Slammer: :Man... I can't see anything
18:08:40 Slammer: I don't even know If I'm writing anything
18:08:56 CrashOops: Slammer you need to make sure you have up to date java client
18:08:57 Kristofer Dahl: You should give a link in the forum to a freeware drum machine - I didnt know about those!
18:09:08 CrashOops: www.download.com
18:09:12 CrashOops: type in drum machine
18:09:18 Kristofer Dahl: aha
18:09:22 Kristofer Dahl: cool
18:09:28 CrashOops: I can give a bit of a review but I've never used a good one so I dunno
18:09:43 Scott Gentzen: I had to look at the tuner. It's a CA-30. Was more than $20, less than $30.
18:09:44 CrashOops: alot of them are for making dance beats it seems rather than drum beats
18:09:55 CrashOops: Same as mine Scott
18:10:01 Kristofer Dahl: ah yes that's a roblem
18:10:02 Scott Gentzen: yay, I got screwed.
18:10:05 Scott Gentzen:
18:10:17 Kristofer Dahl: its important to get one with a rock drum kit sample
18:10:35 Scott Gentzen: Eh. with a drum machine, it really depends on the samples that you put in it though.
18:10:45 Kristofer Dahl: yes exactly
18:11:00 Kristofer Dahl: So do you guys have any recent favorite lesons?
18:11:04 Scott Gentzen: The basics are goinf to be all the same...you have time slices and you put sample triggers in certain spots.
18:11:07 CrashOops: my metronome is a Korg MA-30 if you wanted to know Scott
18:11:23 CrashOops: and I just found my adapters for my headphones. I can practice at night again
18:12:01 CrashOops: well my favorite all time lesson is the iron maiden style one
18:12:05 CrashOops: cause well iron maiden rocks
18:12:07 Slammer: hey there we go... I just had to install the lastet version of Java
18:12:14 Kristofer Dahl: aha yes it's a cool one
18:12:15 CrashOops: ah figured so. welcome back slammer
18:12:22 Slammer: Oh hey
18:12:27 Kristofer Dahl: Glad it worked slammer
18:12:29 Scott Gentzen: The more you spend, the more stuff you can play around with. One of the cooler things I've seen is a "humanizer" kind of thing...moves some of the hits forward and backward in their slots to kinda make it feel less "perfect"
18:12:37 CrashOops: uhm there's the just for fun lesson in the aspiring instructors that I liked because it's very easy yet sounds cool
18:12:40 Scott Gentzen: thanks, crash, will look
18:12:45 Slammer: I didn't know there was a Chat room here, Cool stuff
18:12:58 Kristofer Dahl: eyal is a very cool guy
18:13:23 Kristofer Dahl: I like the fact that we have recently got mote lessons that focues on phrasing and bending
18:13:26 CrashOops: I've been wanting to play the lesson that requires the delay pedal but well I'm waiting till I get the pedal.
18:13:33 Kristofer Dahl: We needed that desperately
18:13:34 Scott Gentzen: I'm really digging David's stuff. Not scary fast, but lots of feel, subtle and very tricky
18:14:00 Scott Gentzen: (not that I'm at a point where I can start looking into playing them)
18:14:04 Kristofer Dahl: CrashOops yes that is a very effective trick
18:14:27 Kristofer Dahl: Also Gabriel always surpises with new aspects of his playing
18:14:28 CrashOops: for me because I am such a beginner on the guitar. anything that can sound good at an even slow tempo is great, especially if you can speed it up and it sounds awesome
18:14:37 Slammer: hey kris, I know you probably get this alot and you're probably sick of hearing it, but.. when can we expect some more lessons from ya??
18:14:43 Kristofer Dahl: he is very versatile and the Frusciante lesson was cool
18:14:45 Scott Gentzen: haha
18:14:56 Kristofer Dahl: I hope we can get one with Frusciante rhythm as well
18:15:14 Kristofer Dahl: he does many cool clean stuff rhythm things
18:15:24 Scott Gentzen: Agreed on Gabriel. Interesting choices from him. I'm just a couple years away from those lessons.
18:15:28 CrashOops: pavel does some amazing clean playing as well
18:15:44 CrashOops: very nice person to talk to aswell
18:15:47 CrashOops: I've had the chance a couple times
18:16:05 Kristofer Dahl: sorry I am typing so much I barely have the time to see your questions
18:16:31 CrashOops: too bad your not as fast on the keyboard as the guitar. trade you?
18:16:31 Scott Gentzen: fast guitar fingers don't translate to fast keyboard fingers?
18:16:36 Kristofer Dahl: I will make more lessons but cant tell for sure when the next one will be
18:16:41 Slammer: ok cool
18:16:43 Scott Gentzen: beat you to it, Crash.
18:16:45 Kristofer Dahl: Loads of thatnsk for asking though
18:16:50 Slammer:
18:16:56 CrashOops:
18:16:57 CrashOops: lol
18:17:10 Slammer: hey man, You're the reason I signed up, (not ass kissing btw)
18:17:26 Kristofer Dahl: hehe
18:17:44 Kristofer Dahl: CrashOops is all of Gab's lessons too difficult for you?
18:18:01 Scott Gentzen: Actually, thinking about my skill level, I might try to start playing with that Floyd-ish lesson
18:18:08 CrashOops: Gabrial did the iron maiden style did he not?
18:18:28 Kristofer Dahl: Sorry I meant scott
18:18:34 Kristofer Dahl: Im confused...
18:18:37 Scott Gentzen: I'll sign up for that category, Kris...Gabe's stuff's too hard for me, I think
18:18:58 Scott Gentzen: my own damn fault for sure. not denying that
18:19:00 Scott Gentzen:
18:19:02 Kristofer Dahl: Scott: Isnt some licks from his most recent lessons quite doable?
18:19:16 Kristofer Dahl: It's very slow phrased but still cool sounding
18:19:51 CrashOops: I have a bit of an idea to put out there. not sure if it's been addressed before. but come to think of it wouldnt it be nice to be able to search lessons by instructor?
18:20:00 Scott Gentzen: Will have to look again. I'm still kind of doing the powerchord, scales in Beginner and the beginning alternate picking exercise from Pavel
18:20:04 Slammer: you know what I think the coolest lessons would be? Eugene's Trick Bag... from the Movie "Crossroads" the one when Steve Vai and the Karate kid have a guitar duel.
18:20:14 Kristofer Dahl: Sott now I understand your keyboar joke This goes way to fast for me
18:20:19 Slammer:
18:20:20 CrashOops: lol
18:20:23 Kristofer Dahl: Fast fingers transalte into slow brins
18:20:28 Kristofer Dahl: brAins
18:20:32 Kristofer Dahl:
18:20:36 Scott Gentzen: d'oh
18:20:41 CrashOops: shame your typing isnt as clean as your guitar playing either
18:20:52 Slammer: low blow*
18:20:56 Slammer:
18:20:58 CrashOops: I kid I kid
18:21:04 Scott Gentzen: 60-70 wpm last time I tested, which was a long time ago.
18:21:08 Kristofer Dahl: hehe
18:21:34 Kristofer Dahl: regarding the seacrh function: its on its way, but takes alot of time
18:21:50 CrashOops: Yes I'm sure it would take some time to implement that into the site
18:22:10 Kristofer Dahl: We are starting to get so many lessons that the site is screaming for a new structure and search function
18:22:38 CrashOops: yes. I've noticed quite the increase in lessons in the short time I've been here. quite nice really
18:22:45 Kristofer Dahl: ...so we are working on redoaing from scratch, thats why it takes time
18:22:53 CrashOops: not enough time in the day to play it all
18:23:00 Scott Gentzen: actually, while I think of it, I have a question that'll have "it'll take a lot of time" answer...are the older lessons going to get migrated to the new format? (flash player with the looping)
18:23:02 Kristofer Dahl: a simple search would be quite fast
18:23:20 CrashOops: I love that looping feature!
18:23:23 Slammer: you know what we need... Some Clapton lessons. JK JK lol lol
18:23:29 Kristofer Dahl: Scott Gentzen YES!
18:23:50 Scott Gentzen: sweet
18:23:54 Kristofer Dahl: CrashOops Glad to hear - I havent got any feedback yet about that
18:24:01 Kristofer Dahl: Have you been using it actively?
18:24:11 CrashOops: I'm practicing mostly older lessons
18:24:13 Scott Gentzen: (I still have trouble with viewing the really old ones)
18:24:15 CrashOops: but I find myself wishing they had it
18:24:36 CrashOops: I showed a few friends of mine the new video feature with the looping and they though it was really cool
18:24:40 Kristofer Dahl: Scott Gentzen hmm with Internet explorer they should work fine?
18:24:51 Scott Gentzen: Mac/Safari.
18:24:58 CrashOops: ooh I feel sorry for you
18:25:06 CrashOops:
18:25:06 Scott Gentzen: need to remember to check Firefox.
18:25:11 Kristofer Dahl: Scott Gentzen aha the you have problem
18:25:12 Kristofer Dahl:
18:25:16 Scott Gentzen: pretty much
18:25:28 Kristofer Dahl: Henrik our consultant uses mac
18:25:37 Kristofer Dahl: so the new solutions are mac compatible
18:25:55 Scott Gentzen: I can view them...it's just that for some reason the video links don't come through right, so I kinda just feed it to WMP manually
18:26:19 Scott Gentzen: I've had no problems with the new stuff.
18:26:29 CrashOops: You guys are pretty cool to talk to. so if you like you can add me to msn
18:26:33 CrashOops: [email protected]
18:26:33 Kristofer Dahl: aha ok - well stay tuned for some reissues of the old ones
18:26:58 CrashOops: of course with the time difference and all dunno how much I'll be on compared to you but what can you do
18:27:08 Kristofer Dahl: I dont have any msn...
18:27:30 Kristofer Dahl: gmc chat is better!
18:27:32 Kristofer Dahl: almos..
18:27:44 Scott Gentzen: Cool. Good to know it's coming. I'm in the minority here, so I have to make sure I speak up in case anyone forgets about me.
18:27:57 CrashOops: yes. but I cant always be in it or people would go crazy trying to talk to me because I would be away so much
18:28:17 CrashOops: yeah I didnt even think about Macs to be honest scott till you mentioned it lol
18:28:22 Slammer: Hey kris, (sorry I really hope I'm not being annoying,) But are you done with freelicks???

18:28:34 Scott Gentzen: ooo. tapping. yummy
18:28:38 CrashOops: I definitely will have to try that when it comes out
18:28:40 CrashOops: I want to learn!
18:28:50 Kristofer Dahl: it will hopefully be live tomorrow
18:28:58 Slammer: I mean, are done making lessons for it?
18:29:04 CrashOops: I want to learn artificial harmonics as well. I hear there is some discussion on it in the forums? not sure if there is a video lesson for it
18:29:05 Scott Gentzen: oddly enough, I have enough coordination to do a little tapping.
18:29:21 Kristofer Dahl: its a cool new lesson as it is just based around one single pattern but still sounds very cool!
18:29:31 Scott Gentzen: Kris has a whammy harmonics lessson on UG, I don't thikn there's one here
18:29:44 CrashOops: funny what you can do with a simple pattern by moving it around a little
18:30:05 Kristofer Dahl: regarding freelicks:
18:30:15 CrashOops: No tremolo for me unfortunately. gimson style guitar I guess would be the best way to put it
18:30:21 CrashOops: gibson*
18:30:32 CrashOops: next guitar will have one for sure
18:30:44 Kristofer Dahl: No I am not done with itbut just as with my updates here I am laying low to allow for development of the site

18:33:17 CrashOops: have to be to get any good
18:33:17 Kristofer Dahl: That's the only way to progress
18:34:26 Kristofer Dahl: yes and it's a very nice way of life as it gives quick results
18:34:30 Kristofer Dahl: which I like
18:34:51 Scott Gentzen: I don't practice enough and I suck. I just became a case study
18:34:58 CrashOops: the end result is the goal. but you need to enjoy the trip there though
18:35:13 Kristofer Dahl: CrashOops soo true what you just said

18:39:36 CrashOops: I used to build custom wood windows and doors. I had to learn how to add subtract divide almost all over again. school was all calculators
