I think he needs a good quality sound card, not a USB interface device. Good quality soundcard with quality AD/DA's wil ldefinitely increase your sound processing quality.

The Pod XT Live has that - its equivalent to a USB soundcard really, and the A/D converters are pretty good. What it does lack though is a microphone amplifier, Its great for recording guitar, not so hot for vocals.

USB works fine for audio. The only thing that might be a bit negative with USB interfaces is that they can consume some extra needed CPU-power, which can be noticed if your running big projects in Cubase/Sonar/Reaper with vsti-instruments and lots of effects.
As far as recommendations go, then it seems like most have been covered by the others. -------------------- Guitars: Schecter Stiletto Classic, Jackson SLSMG, Ibanez RG-380 Japan, Gibson Les Paul Studio

I understand man! Well toneport is not only for guitar definitely, I can imagine using it for vocals, guitars, keyboard and micing stuff with one or two mics at a time...
Though there are lots of other devices which can suite you.. regarding toneport , keep in mind that it would not work with vista 64bit , because drivers are in development should come out in few months.. -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

I also recommend Toneport 2, good device, and it can record two micprophones at once if you need it. Decent quality converters for the price also, and low enough latency to handle external software like Guitar Rig. Bare in mind that guitar rig is functioning barely on Toneport, but it can be used.

Also I recommend listening to some of the people's recordings here on GMC, in order to get the feel on what sound you like the most, and then you can make a decision.

Before making any recommendations can you tell us a bit more about what you need in terms of number and types of inputs and outputs mate and also a price range? Tascam are generally a good brand btw and reasonable value for money but not usually the cheapest. One thing I would however suggest you do is check out any user forums here to see if they have posted any known issues with the Recording Software/s that you'll use. Cheers, Tony I'm gonna get a Tascam so I'll explain my experiences !! I'd recommend a POD to ANYONE.... awesome things POD is great but it's not the best -------------------- |

I ve been thinking to buy a new audio card so I can record my guitar in my pc. I found this one by tascam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baW5jIOPp68 has anyone tried it? any suggestions? I am extremely satisfied with my Creative EMU tracker pro 2.0 becuase it has direct monitoring of inputs, therefore, no delay! |
