Okay, I have this Ibanez....it's beautilful, absolutely stunning. The sound, feel, everything. Problem is...I don't know what it is.

It's a 22 fret, rosewood, with dot inlays. RG shaped body, black in colour. Black pickguard, chrome tuners and chrome TRS-101 bridge.

On the neck plate it says Ibanez Made in Japan., and the hardware has all been stamped with TAKEUCHI.

Anyone have a clue?
Cheers

Lovely guitar! Does it have a serialnumber on the back? Something starting with F and some numbers.

It might take some time but this site has pictures of a bunch of ibanez models and their specs.

My first impressions would be an RG550, but the TRS and 22 frets knocks that one out. It looks to be a lower end model, maybe RG3xx from the 90's?

Are you sure it is a real Ibanez? "unsure"

Also check some Japanese guitar sites, if the guitar is manufactured there there must be some info there.

Looks like an Ibanez Rt or Rx model. Check out the serial number, if there's one.

I think if it is an ibanez it'll be an RX or EX model. Have you got the serial number?

yeah, I checked everywhere on ibanez register and even jemsite etc...nothing. There's no serial number either.
The reason I'm sure its a real ibanez is the stamps of Takeuchi on the hardware.
It's difficult.
Either way, it's a beautiful guitar that I didn't pay much for.

Does the head stock have ibanez on it or is it blank?

Maybe there's something written in the neck pocket?

smile.gif It does say Ibanez on the next, and the serial number was removed. It was a sticker.
I know I should check the neck pocket, but I don't want to take it apart until curiosity gets the better of me smile.gif

it's not an RX or an RT, cause the headstock is black, and it's not an EX cause it has dot inlays.

yeah, I checked the websites....and nothing...it's not there. sad.gif
I'm beginning to think it might be the body of an RG550 with a different neck put in place.
I dunno....

Might be a limited asian-only model of some sort then. There's dozens of models made just for the Asian market that can be trickier to find info on.

I had a alot of trouble figuring out my Ibanez model aswell. The selection of components just didnt add with any regular RG, but i lucked out and found it on that ibanezregister site a while ago. Was a RG-390

ooo, thanks for that info, I didn't know that they made Asian-only market guitars. Must be something in that realm then.
I'll keep an eye out.
