It was a great idea to record a take over this lesson, with this particular tone and gain settings. It just exposed one important thing I can now simply advise you to improve

To get most powerfull and juciy palm muting tone, we do not "jump with the pick" as with regular picking motion. It's rather pushing it hardly to make is sweep from one string to another (another is a kind of limit line and resting point after the stroke). So the mechanics of this looks like:

1. Rest the pick on muted string
2. Press until it falls onto another string

This way you get biggest output gain and lot's of lows impact + percussive effect.

Refering to your take I mean that even with such a low gain you could still get almost "metal-like" palm muted tone, and it's for sure one of the purpose of this lesson

Aside from above, there are very little timing problems and chord shifts could be more precise. At just a few moments some of unwanted strings tend to cut through but it has to be noticed that your proper work over strings muting is visible and I see you know how to use your left hand for this purpose. Those were single spots to fix. OVerall noise muting job i descent. 0:23 is one of those spots to fix.

In general your performance has a lot of good points and we speak about details that would be considered for a pro studio recording. Well done

Hi mate,

This is a good take for this lesson. I think that adjusting a bit the tone will make this sounds better, and will help you to find the right way to get the sound and required timing to make this one sound better.

The problems are related to timing, but also to articulation, which reffers to the duration of the notes and how you connect each chord and note with the following one. The fact that your tone has less drive and compression, makes that you have less sustain and this makes everything more difficult.

I don't think that this one is close, on the other side, this is close, but you need some more work to adjust these elements and take your rhythm playing to a top level.

Darius and Gab are spot on.

We want to hear you "mean it" a bit more. You have already been given the specifics about the pick strumming which is def an important part of the solution.

On top of this, I think it would help if we saw you "rock out" a bit more. Maybe pretend you are playing this on stage - try to dig into the rhythm. This usually makes you attack the strings in a different way which translates into "more feeling".
