Hey GMC'ers! This week I have been listening to many Bowie's albums and I was wondering... What do you think about him?
I think that he is one of the most talented singers and composer of the last 30 years and that he recorded many great albums in different styles and another thing that I respect of him is that he always sounds modern and actualized. Great! I use to learn his songs because he uses very original harmonies in his compositions so I find it very inspiring.

I like some of his songs such as 'space oddity' or 'ziggy stardust', 'ashes to ashes', etc. Back to 80's Bauhaus made the cover version of 'ziggy stardust', i love it totaly. Perhaps , Gabriel, you can make Bowie style lesson soon, please? And/by the way, do you like the Cure? Could you think of their style lesson as well? , such as the song of 'boy don't cry' or something like that. tks It could be amazing to do a Bowie style lesson but I think that it would be very difficult because he has recorded songs in lots of different styles so .... I also like The Cure. My favourite album is Disintegration and I think that a "The Cure Style Lesson" would be easier. -------------------- My lessons

ok , can I look foward to have the Cure Style Lesson soon? I'll work on it. I hope to do it very soon! Have you listened to A Perfect Circle's Thirsteen step album? It's a great album, one of my favourite and it has many The Cure influences. -------------------- My lessons

The Mick Ronson years were great [Spiders era] because he was a fantastic guitarist [check out 'Moonage Daydream', 'Lady Grinning Soul', 'Cracked Actor']. Apparently it was Mick Ronson's superb solo in Ian Hunter's classic 'Once Bitten Twice Shy', but I'm not sure on that. Bowie was a huge inspiration for me in the 70's but I get annoyed now when he cameos in 'new' bands such as Arcade Fire and Kashmir. Both Bowie and Lou Reed have done this and they end up being the worst tracks on the album. I'm sure the bands think its an honour but for me it's 'You've had your day; now let these guys have theirs'. Having said that, what band would so 'No thanks' to Bowie? [I certainly wouldn't!!] Hmm...tricky. Still, Bowie was a legend in the 70's and let's pretend that the Labyrinth tights and duets with Jagger/Mercury/Bing Crosby didn't happen. yes, that's my favourite David ERA too... Ziggy Stardust! Mick Ronson was a great showman in that time and also a great rock player. -------------------- My lessons
